[Q] Serious help needed!! Camera and apps!!

I have 2 questions:

1. How do I change the camera resoltion? I know on Samsung and Lg devices its easy. just through settings from the camera, however here I cant find it. Can it be done?

2. I am trying to download an external app (not from the playstore), but its downloading as text only. The app works on all other androids and iphones, do I need some kind of software to get it to work?
