P605

Thanks for confirming.
I realize the device is new (released early June'14)... do you think this is something we could put a bounty on :) ?

I am regretting my purchase currently... I should have ebay'd the P605-International (sigh)

Hopefully in time.

Thanks again.

The P605 would not connect with TMobile LTE. I got 4G speeds but no LTE because of the missing bands. I now have the T-Mobile version with LTE and I use one of VOIP apps for my calls. All well and good.

Another good option for the P-607T is to flash the Cyanogenmod ROM (or something like KANG) which has the stock Dialer available and un-restricted. It will not make network calls of course, but you will be able to use the integrated SIP dialer and practically use it normally.

Just to flash and debrand?

Hi there i just received my SM-P607T and i am anoyed by the T-Mobile bloadware.
I surfed many threads around the Note 10.1 2014 Edition to get used to the actions to perform rooting flash etc.
But currently i am not sure if it is possible to just flash an SM-P605 rom to the 607T.
Does anyone of you have any experience with this issue?
Or perhaps a link to a stock flash without T Mob?
Or did i just miss a thread where this is already answered?
The thing that the 607T doesn´t support phone calls is fine for me so far

Hey NUBatWORK, this isn't really the thread for that, but I had that same question at one point; basically the answer is YES, you can use P605 ROMS on a P607T just fine. I believe if you're using a Touchwiz P605 ROM then you need to remove modem files before it will allow you to flash. But since you're looking to get rid of bloatware anyway, I would suggest the P605 Cyanogenmod 11 that's in the main development form. You can flash that straight to the P607T without issue. You WILL trip knox.

There is a small thread somewhere about flashing P605 roms to the P607T. Google it it shouldn't be hard to find.

There are plenty of apps, carrier supplied included, that run services that start without touching the app itself. Don't be naive in assuming Touchwiz is somehow running the exact same number of processes that AOSP android does.

I just don't want that **** on my tablet. Period. And I hate the look and functionality of Touchwiz. There are lots of reasons.

And you realize that like HALF the threads on XDA as a website are probably about removing stock carrier apps right? I think you're barking up the wrong tree here.

The poster I replied to wants to run SS P605 TW ROMs, each of which have their own set of carrier-supplied apps- and the T-Mo rom is pretty much stock TW (and is in fact leaner as it doesn't carry much dialer/phone services).

People like saying "bloatware" 'cause they read that it's "bad" in the forums, yet apparently have no idea how the Android activity manager works. In 5 mins 90% of what you don't use won't be run again 'till a reboot, and since it lives in the ROM doesn't take up "space".

I didn't see the part of his post where he was referring to TW ROMs, maybe I'm confused. All he asked about was flashing P605 ROMs on a P607T.

A lot of it is personal preference dude, that's great that you can get over the TW stuff that I can't. To me, I don't understand why anyone WOULD want the TW experience over stock Android. But, to each his own, and it's why this forum exists. And bloatware is just a term, not really fair to assume that this poster thinks his tablet is being slowed down. I too noticed that my tablet performed perfectly fine with the stock ROM - but I still wanted it gone.

Yeah exactly, there are soooo many reasons to do it. I'm perfectly aware that Touchwiz is like 500x better than it used to be but it's just no match for flashing a custom ROM, which includes bloatware.

I'm only referring to flashing non-stock ROMs here, of course anything carrier supplied is gonna get you some bloat. End of the day, I still have less processes running than I did with Touchwiz - even after 5 minutes. And, now they don't restart on boot. I like a lean device.

:(

I would really love to be able to make phone calls with my p607t... bummer :( ... I own the note2, there is no need to have the note2 and the tablet, heck I bought it thinking that I would be able to make calls, but found out the hard way is not possible.

I just wonder and hope... is there any progress on this calling thing?

would pay a bounty if needed.

thanks.

Heh. I gave up and pretty much went back to stock; I used the CM-11 port for a while 'till I couldn't get past a couple of pretty fatal bugs, and since 4.4.4 is out for (only) the '607T (Thanks, T-Mo!) I've since loaded that and have only rooted it. I haven't even gotten around to putting my custom kernel series back on it. Works great, BTW.

I doubt anyone would be able to do anything about it unless they'd either circumvented the encryption in either the bootloader (which actually flashes the radios) or resigned the P605 radios to the P607T key, both of which are pretty big undertakings.

(FWIW, Skype works :) )

You can make calls from the dialer in hangouts yes. The person receiving the call will see an unknown #. I haven't checked in settings to see if you can change that.

nay updates to get working dialler?

hi all,
saw this thread, I just have got this note from my friend..
any new updates/works done in this? Been more than 6 months since last post- just checking if anyone made anything.
I tried flashing many P605 roms, all gave me the dialer but on trying a call i get this 'unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped'
Hoping something around..

Excellent. Thank you.

I successfully tested using this by doing the following:

1. Renamed extension on stock E2 P607T firmware from 'TAR.MD5' to '.TAR' (so it can be opened by Total Commander)
2. Viewed, then deleted the 'aboot.mbn' file from the firmware.
3. Flashed the .TAR file (with missing .mbn) to my device.
4. Succeeded.
Thanks again.
you so succeeded to get the network voice calling feature on P607T?
kindly tell the procedure elaborately.. i'm looking for the that
thanks in advance
