[Q][SOLVED] Device turns off at 45% Battery

Hmmm, I seem to remember doing some thing similar by accident with my phone when I stopped charging around 30% to use it. It drained to 0 shortly after and I fully recharged while in recovery mode. The battery seemed to last longer that time, but any subsequent charging before letting the battery die seemed to result in the same poor battery life. It's not a real solution but if you can confirm that yours acts similarly, then it's more info for us to have as we try to figure this out.

Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Free mobile app
Right now: We're still above 30% , but with powerconsumption as on a normal day : Whatsapp, twitter, phone, AngryBirds . Duration seems allright.
Pulled the plug @ 8 AM this morning - right now @ 20.30 going strong... anxious to see what happens when 30 % is near

[edit]
too bad: Didn't make the 30% threshold[/edit]

Well, I've tried to clear the cache and do a factory reset, but neither of those show any kind of improvement. The battery test ends with ~91% charge left, but the phone turned off at 78% with a short "!" display (low power) and went black in a matter of two seconds and couldn't be turned on again.

I guess it is an actual hardware fault, isn't it?

Can any of you please look at the app "CPU-Z" and tell me your Voltage and Capacity (under the Battery tab), including your current charge-display? Important: Only when not attached to a charger! The app strangely detects a wrong capacity. Does anyone else have this "bug" (since it should be 1800mAh)?

This is mine:

Thank, keep me posted. I may consider not wasting money on the new battery if yours survives the 30% threshold.
Nope it didn't -

Too bad you cannot try that in safe mode

I will try CPU-Z tomorrow - as one of the last tries - if this fails , I'm claiming my warranty and have it fixed by HTC : I have a week's log of tries and fails, so diagnosing should be easy.

Mine gives 3780mV and indeed 2300 mAh Charging (wall charger / computer USB) or not charging

That makes some sense:
if 1 % = 23 mAh , then an 1800 mAh battery is drained when the counter is at 1- (1800/23 ) = 21,8 % ( it's not exactly a 30% threshold - also don't know if battery % is linear )

Comes to me as a 75 cl. bottle labelled "contents: 1 l. of fluid"
When pouring , it stops, while you are thinking it should still contain 250 ml.

I did (which removed all my folders from my home area) and as I said stopped at ~91% and that amount is just not accurate at all when the device shuts down at 79% again.
meant you cannot run CPU-Z in safe-mode to see if there's any change in CPU-Z's battery measurements

[edit]
Gave up experimenting , M4 is being picked up for repair coming Thursday [/edit]

*new battery*

Well, I finally got my battery replaced by a local cell phone repair shop. I'm charging it up now to see how it performs. The first discharge may not tell me anything since my old battery would sometimes do just fine until it got plugged in again. I'll try to use it a few times and get back with you guys with the results.

Results are in:
The battery was shot. The new one lasts all day now with normal usage. No cutting off at x% anymore. If you have a place that repairs phones near you, spend the $50 and move on with your life. Don't waste anymore time trying to figure out what we already know - our batteries crapped out prematurely and HTC won't do anything about it if you're rooted. Good luck to you all!

Same here, battery replaced by dynafix under warranty, working like a charm now
No root pays off.

Glad you guys found a solution to it by repairing it.

Mine got bad, really bad. The One Mini did not even survive 40 minutes of listening to music after a full recharge and shut itself off at 75% capacity.
I did everything that I could to make it completely stock (using this [GER] thread: German Telekom HTC One Mini stock thread) and returned it last week. The device was TAMPERED and RELOCKED (S-ON) but they didn't even have a look at the local store. They just took it and promised a new device.
Now I returned home with a new HTC One Mini 2 since there were no new M4s. It just feels so much better to have a reliable phone that will hold the entire day.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. If you've gone through battery calibration apps (I don't actually believe they work) and factory resets, you might seriously consider your device to have a broken battery and return it or find someone to replace the battery.

I now have an HTC One mini 2, but CPU-Z still outputs the wrong capacity. I suspect it to be just inaccurate and no error in the phone's software.

Ah Finally came accross something relevant here.

My HTC One Mini battery issue started out few months ago, powering off at 30%. Got worst later shutting off at 70 & now at even 100%. But on rebooting it still shows the higher % , of whatever 98 or 70% , wherever it shut off at or maybe a little lower. I tried all the wipe cache, disabling apps and blah blah. No improvements. Also it's worst, as in shuts off on enabling wifi or 3G , with those off its still marginally better or alive. Moment I connect to the net , within minutes it's gone off.

So going in for a new battery replacement now. Hope it's better then ! :)

Same issues for my daughter's HTC One Mini! Exactly 2 weeks after ending warranty period. None of these worked. HTC support told me that could be a mainboard issue. Trashed it! I'll never buy their products!

It's just a dead battery. It has nothing to do with HTC. Just replace it for $50 and enjoy [emoji2]

Hey man HTC are the business, their phones are second to none. You want Samsung or Nokia fine but don't trash HTC.
