how to reinstall the VPN's credentials certificate(s)
Copy the credentials certificate(s) to tablet's /sdcard (internal memory) or /sdcard2 (external SD memory card; what I do) directory. Go into tablet's Settings. Select Security. Under CREDENTIAL STORAGE, select Install from SD card.

thx for your answer. i have the same problem and i used the PPTP mode. so i never use any credentials certificate(s) before. should i ask it for my VPN service provider now?
True, PPTP VPN connection does not require credentials certificate(s). @wenshaowang, I hope you knew that.

If the VPN service provider offers L2TP/IPsec VPN connection (faster, more secure than PPTP) and you want to use it (I do), most times, credentials certificate(s) are required. Some VPN service providers only require a IPsec pre-shared key which you just simply type in during the VPN configuration. The VPN service provider should have a download link for the credentials certificate(s) or display the IPsec pre-shared key on their web site. If not, contact the VPN service provider via e-mail and ask them to send the credentials certificate(s) or IPsec pre-shared key to you.

Also, check the VPN service provider's web site for instructions for configuring PPTP or L2TP/IPsec VPN connections with regard to their service and Android.

If configuring and connecting the VPN service still fails, read THIS web page, particularly Comment 203, and THIS web page. That is about all the advice I can give on VPN connections.

No, I did not say changing from PPTP to L2TP/IPsec will solve the problem. What I said was L2TP/IPsec is faster, more secure than PPTP.
