I have had the same issue, so will be going back to Sony soon for a repair. Disappointed as I've only had it 6 weeks, but as long as the repair service is good I'll be ok.
Well, I arranged for it to be collected last monday by Sony, expecting a 5day turnaround. Guy from UPS turns up, takes it away. Text message Tuesday morning, 8.30am "We have recieved your unit, 5 day turnaround etc". Text Message 1.30 Tuesday "We have sent you your unit".

Arrived mid morning on wednesday, all working and with a free screen cleaning cloth.

I'm impressed.

Did you finally manage to get a fix ? If so, please suggest me what i can do.

Hi everyone, i have a problem with my Sony Tablet S, suddenly it's freezing and when i try to turned it back on it stuck on booting screen (with sony logo ).

then i checked to the internet and i found that i have to hard reset it, by holding down the + volume button and power button in order to get to the Android System Recovery. But then again no clue, i have tried reset to factory setting and keep stuck on boot screen. its frustating.

Prompt on my screen :
E: Fail to read boot logo flag
E: Cant Open / Dev/block/mmcblk0p5
(No Such file or directory)
E: Failed to Mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: Cant mpunt/ cache/recovery/command
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)

On the Android System Recovery there is Update System from SD Card, is there any possible ways that i can put Honeycomb virtual image on to the SD Card then make it as a bootable device, so i can boot from my SD Card.

Please help! thanks a lot !

Only thing I can think of is installing ics from recovery if you were currently on hc. Other than that sony service centre.

Iff you need ics link please check my signature.

That is quick. Mine was delivered Thursday. On Friday I received an email informing me the part is backordered. *sigh* Damn, I miss my tablet!

If you can access recovery menu vol up + power on. AND you were running HoneyComb (HC) before boot loop etc. Then you can fash Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Yours is below under US in my signature link.

Hi,

I've encountered the same issue. I was thinking of updating the firmware via SD card with the tablet on recovery mode.

I tried to select "2. Update System from SD card" but when i tried it, it throws an error:

E: failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)

So i think i need to get this fix by service center. Only thing I am worried is if they will know that I have rooted my tab. Will they know it?

For the people who have sent it to service center, did you have a stock firmware or a rooted one?

Received a call from the service center today. Was told main board had to be replaced. Will be in stock Monday. Very disappointed at the quality of internal parts. Tablet was always babied.

Still f select "2. Update System from SD card" then it shows an error:

fixed!

Hi All,

Just to update you, I have sent my tablet to service center. I have a rooted tablet so was hesitant at first to send it. But upon checking this forum that it says it is a hardware failure, i took the risk.

So, i sent it sunday and they said that motherboard might need to be replaced and may take 5-7days. but after 3 days (wednesday), they sms me and said that it is ready for pickup.

I went there to pick it up and check the firmware - wishing that it will be HC so I can root it again.. luckily the firmware is 3.2 :) so, upon returning home, i did root it again.. and now its back and working as rooted ICS again :good:
