Xperia z Red Light - no boot - no PC connection - FIXED

Hi
I just sorted my bricked Xperia z (C6603) - that wasn't being recognised by my PC
I tried various methods to bring the phone back to life - but nothing worked

[*]different charger
[*]different cables
[*]connecting to my pc in attempt to flash the firmware.
[*]charging it for over 24 hrs (just to be safe)
[*] Different combos of pwr / up / down buttons

Nothing worked - just the red light came on when I plugged the charger in - the docking station (that I had used since I got the phone) didn't even fire up the red light.

So I stripped it down the z - using a heat gun (low heat setting) you can see how to do this on youtube or other guides - took the battery out and found out there was no power in the battery (checked with voltage tester) - it has Positive and negative on the battery connector (thanks sony!)

seeing that it had no charge - decided to force a charge to the battery using a usb charger that i use from my Drone

putting the battery contacts in correctly between the pins (you'll need to check the polarity) - looking at the charger with the pins facing and the usb it pointing up the far left is negative PIN then positive PIN - place the connector between these pins an ensure that both the + & - battery contacts (it will have a static red light if correctly charging )
left it for 20 mins - tested the battery again and it had 3.7 v (14% on the phone)

place it back in the phone and fired it up... Whhooho we have it up and running again - as if I didn't have the issue.
I suppose you could alter a usb cable to perform the same as the charger -and just hold them on for 5 mins - maybe enough to get it back up and running

Why Sony thought it was a god idea to stop the battery charging at all - if it went to zero % (unless you think that this is nice little money maker)

anyway I hope this might help at least one of you out there !
