Ok, I came across a few threads about replacing the Chrome browser with the stock browser but none of them applied to the new 4.2.2. I had followed the process in 4.1.2 by removing the Chrome.apk and browserproviderproxy.Apk and .odex while setting the rw rw r permissions of the browser in /System/App which worked perfectly. I have now done the same process in 4.2.2 but its a no go. The Browser keeps force closing...I tried other permissions as well and nothing. Been playing around with this for the past 2 hours.
Is it possible that the browser that came with 4.1.2 will just not work with 4.2.2?

I really don't like the Chrome browser and no other browser on Google Play even comes close to how great the stock browser is!

Did anyone else try this already with success?

You guys can go to the app store and search [ROOT]AOSP Browser Installer by DsLNeXuS worked fine for me, no issues running .423/4.2.2 deodexed.

Edit: on c6506 Xperia ZL

I wouldnt be able to tell you which version it is since I flashed back to 4.1.2 build 253. Didnt like the new 4.2.2 especially since directory bind wasnt working on it. The process to install it is the same as 4.1.2. Just download the 2 files, copy them to /System/App and change the permissions to rw-r--r-- using Root Explorer (or any other file explorer). I also deleted Chrome and browserproviderproxy from there. You obviously need a rooted phone to do this.

Or you can try alainmona's way by getting it from Google Play.
