Flashing PIT File

Just want to make sure I don't need to flash the pit file when using this method?

Thanks again

Hi Bajasur;

I had to flash the PIT to get things back right, but you can always try it without. If the phone won't boot, or ODIN gets an error while flashing, just do it again with the PIT.

Good luck,
Marc

Thanks Marc,

I have an even greater problem.

I have two note 2s in my lap. I've that Odin will recognize (my original)

And the bricked one that I can't get Odin to recognize. Drivers are installed but my bricked phone won't even register as connected to my pc.

Any ideas what you do

Are you using the same PC, same cable and same USB port for each? And you are remembering to put the phone in download mode first, and then connect the cable? I did mine on a Mac Notebook running Parallels and Windows 7 and only had problems at first getting my USB port to pass through to the Windows environment. I too was "bricked", all I had to start with was a perpetual boot-loop to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen.

This method worked! Back up and running.

Thank you for this. I can unfortunately see this happening to many others. Might be worth the OP starting a new thread or modifying the OP with specifics and instructions on this fix?

Just a thought.

Exactly like that. However that stickies OP doesn't mention the sboot.bin fail in Odin.

I discovered at least 5 threads outside of XDA where dozens of people have gotten stuck at this sboot.bin fail in Odin and had no clue what it meant or what they had done wrong.

That stickie is fantastic, it would be nice if the sboot.bin Odin was mentioned in the stickie OP or linked to this thread.

Thanks again for all your help @kintwofan you were a huge help for me yesterday as it appears you have been for many others!

:)

I thought step 2 was pretty clear. I'll see if droidstyle will added a big bold sboot fails if you don't do this after it m

Flash the alternative restore in Odin.

Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
I just tried doing so with no luck. I tried flashing the pit along with the alternative restore, when ODIN makes the phone reboot, it displays the verizon software error message. Then it reboots again and displays it again, yet ODIN says it has passed.

In download mode I see this:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I605
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STAUS: Custom
RP SWREV: A3

Downloading...
Do not turn off target!!

Any ideas?

same as person above..

I have used VRALJB, VRAMC3, and Root66 with success in Odin, but whenever my phone reboots it shows the Galaxy Note 2 text splash screen for half a second then goes back to yellow triangle of death! I've also tried the non-alternative versions of VRALJB and VRAMC3, but Odin failed at sboot. I keep thinking for sure the next flash would cause the phone to reboot normally..but each time it's the yellow triangle of death. I've looked all over XDA, Android Central, Rootz..I'm about to give up :(

If your phone has ever been updated to either Android version 4.3 or 4.4.2.... then you can't restore back to VRALJB, VRAMC3, or Root66 because the bootloader is locked and impossible at present for you to downgrade back to an earlier Android version because of security locks of the bootloader.

If you were on 4.3 previously... and never updated to 4.4.2, then you can Odin restore back to 4.3.

If you ever updated to 4.4.2, then you will only be able to Odin restore the phone back to 4.4.2.

Here's some links to a couple of posts where I tried to help others previously: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57944591 AND http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56167850

Read through Droidstyle's restore guide closely as well, as his guide should help you to fix your phone.
