Hey all, earlier today i used this method to root and flash cwm recovery after discovering the recovery 3e issue with signature verification.

http://androidforums.com/captivate-...ng-adding-cwm-recovery-2-3-5-corn-kernel.html

That went fine, so i then proceeded to flash cm10 via recovery. Upon booting i had a severe blue tint to my phone. Very unhappy i went back to odin and flashed a stock kernel with cwm from this thread

http://androidforums.com/captivate-...ng-adding-cwm-recovery-2-3-5-corn-kernel.html

This is when the real trouble began, my phone refused to boot past the att world phone screen. so next i went into cwm to try and maybe reflash gingerbread but i get this error when installing zip

"asset failed: getprop ("ro.product.device") == "captivate"

"asset failed: getprop captivatemtd

asset failed: getprop sgh i897

I'm guessing that somehow my build prop got changed during one of the kernel flashing but i could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears, from the threads that you referenced, that you flashed a GB kernel, not a complete GB rom, onto a JB rom. If that's the case, you may be able to recover by using odin to flash a stock GB rom, with stock kk4 kernel.

The approach you took is one way, but you can avoid all the 3e stuff:
