Anyone else got this tablet? I'm wondering if there's any custom ROMs yet for this device?

It's not complicated, I just wish Google could translate that page better, Merimobiles are providing a firmware update guide this week on their site so it should clear things up. I'm defintalely going to try this newer firmware with the guide.

How is It better? sensev7 or rena3? I bought the sensev7 but I don't know. The screen resolution for sensev7 is better, but doesn't have many other things for exemple bluetooth and microfone

Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA

ok I got it, thanks, will try it tonight!

Is there something special how to reboot this tablet to FWDN mode? Or do you do it from the FWDN software?

try power off -> hold back & power on.

for reference, on EM71, home + power is FWDN and menu + power is fastboot and back + power is recovery. adb reboot bootloader goes fastboot mode.

DO NOT USE FWTOOL TO INSTALL RECOVERY!
TOUCHSCREEN WILL BE DEAD!!!

if you can flash 2.3.3 ROM for LY-F521 posted on 99pad, please try clockworkmod
http://androtab.info/files/tcc8803/cm7/20110615/LY-F521-8K/

I think LY-F521-8K-recovery-signed.zip can be installed from stock recovery.
I don't have LY-F521, so I can't test it. please use with care.

if it doesn't work, please reflash 2.3.3 ROM.

don't use this file on non-2.3.3 ROM or on other tablets. it may brick your tablet!

sorry, no "stable" "complete" release are exist. I don't have LY-F521 nor another tcc8803 tablet, I don't know what work and what not work on LY-F521. if you want to know how good, please test and tell me result ;)

by the way, CM7 is just for my fun. I like dev work and I don't care result. I think almost same level on tcc8902. refer following thread
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1101094

if someone test CM7 for LY-F521 and basic function works, I'll add LY-F521 for my target. but don't expect progess, it's my spare time project.

I'll give it a try in a day or two when I have more time to play with this thing. If one day there's working CM7 for LY-F521 I'd be glad to help you out :)

thanks. but please use with care. I can't promise my files doesn't brick your tablet...
if 99pad 2.3.3 ROM works fine on your tablet, my clockworkmod and cyanogenmod will work...I hope so;)

    just FYI

20110702 rom posted on 99pad (http://u.115.com/file/aqyxejwz) is 100% same as 20110616 rom posted here (http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=15191674&postcount=131)

    here is 20110719 ROM. I don't have LY-F521 so I can't test it.

it seems they changed screen orientation and sensors.so. I'm not sure there is accelerometer orientation issue on LY-F521, but probably they fix it.

I'm not able to root the device (at least after the update to 2.3.3). The problem seems to be that even with adb remount the /system isn't really writable. .

    Hi!

Just reflashed it with 0616 FW. There is really no place left to root it.

So, a little trick helps - just delete some "text to speech" files
    Code:
    adb root
    adb remount
    adb shell rm /system/tts/lang_pico/*

now df shows that I have 2M free on /system

And after that it is possible to root..

I decided to take a chance and start doing this on my own. I understood that the bootloader is same across 2.3.*-versions, so I decided not to update it at all.

The first thing was to install clockworkmod to make backups. Unfortunatedly there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate the stock recovery screen, so I took a chance and flashed the recovery.img from the LY-F521-8K-recovery-signed.zip using fastboot and it seems to work fine. The commands for this are (you may need to sudo the adb and fastboot commands on unix systems if you haven't configured the permissions):

    1. adb reboot bootloader
    2. Wait for the device to boot with a blank screen
    3. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    4. fastboot reboot
    5. Wait for the device to boot
    6. adb reboot recovery
    7. Do your thing in ClockworkMod recovery. Home-button selects, menu-button navigates down and back goes back. There doesn't seem to be a way to go up, but it doesn't really matter. Didn't try the power-button though

If you're going to flash a new ROM, I suggest taking backups now in ClockworkMod recovery.

NOTE: THE UPDATE MAY NOT WORK FROM PRE 2.3-VERSIONS AS THIS PROCESS DOESN'T UPDATE THE BOOTLOADER!
    Could somebody verify this?

To start flashing the stock ROM, it has to be unpacked first, with tools provided here: androtab.info/telechips/howtos/customize-firmware

To flash it, I used the following steps

    1. adb reboot bootloader
    2. fastboot flash boot boot.img
    3. fastboot flash system system.img
    4. fastboot reboot

The installation went without problems and the updated ROM seems to work fine.

There was some conflicting reports on how well the 2.3.3 (0517) works. For me it at least fixed the browser's google-crash, it recovers from sleep a lot faster, and may have fixed WLAN performance problems I had with 2.3.1.
