Hello all. Somewhat new to flashing ROM's but not rooting. I'm wanting to flash the SC MS2. I've got a good backup using the CWM without issue. But now kind of looking for straight-forward info on the ROM flash. I've looked at the SC MS2 thread from skynet11 and I'm not sure what Atlas is for so I'm hesitant to move on.

I'd like to think that since I've got my backup of the ROM and data/apps, I can just use three-button on the phone and flash from the SD.

Any suggestions/guidance is appreciated.

Cheers
Barry

Atlas is the file used to completly stockify your phone. Use that in odin with the repartioning checked when odining a rom package

What rom/kernel are you currently running? That will determine how you proceed with flashing SC MS2.

The Atlas file is for getting your phone back to stock and will come packaged with the stock rom - and you flash stock roms via Odin. Custom roms are flashed via cwm. Place .zip on SD card, boot to recovery, wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache, and flash

Its on EH03 and kernel version is 2.6.35.7

How should I proceed? Wipe and then Flash with cwm? Or do I even need to wipe the data?

Thanks again for your help. Hopefully as I learn more I can contribute back as well.

Once you have CWM properly installed, download the Superclean MS2 .zip file into your SD card. (Make sure the .zip is OK, first).

Then go into CWM and wipe data/factory reset 1st. Then select "install zip from SD card". Then select "choose zip from SD card" and find the file. Select "Yes" to flash. I suggest you also wipe Dalvik Cache by going into the Advanced menu.

After everything is done, reboot, and if you want , you can flash a kernel like KBG.

Enjoy!

Thanks!

Although, What benefits are there to flashing the kernel?

Also, and sorry if I'm being a bother, but I "thought" I did a backup this morning and I'm looking at my SD card in the cwm->backup folder and I don't see the timestamp I thought I'd see from today - there's one there but from 2000-01-01 - is that one it?

Thanks so much!

Once last thing - the gapps.zip - how's that installed? Thanks
It's just flashed the same way as any .zip file, like the SuperClean.

Benefits of using KGB? Many... like being able to overclock and undervolt, back light notifications, and enabling Voodoo lag fix.

I haven't done that many CWM backups, because.. they are not that useful, IMHO. I don't have anything worth backing up in my phone anyway. (All my contacts are in Exchange) and your SD card contents are untouched. Plus, I can get all my apps back from Android Market in no time. If there are some specific apps (and its data) that you want to backup, I would use Titanium backup.

Perfection! Thanks so much!! now on SC without issue. Was a bit concerned when I didn't know how long it would take to wipe the data (seemed forever but in reality only a few mins), but flashed it, then the gapps and have restored the apps I wanted using Titanium. CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again very much!

Great thread, I am in the same situation: currently on SC3 M1 with KGB kernel and EH03 radio.

I want to flash to SC3 M2, keep the KGB kernel, and possibly try different radio. I just want to make sure I have my steps in the correct order:

1. Download SC3 M2 .zip to SD card
2. Download KGB .zip to SD card
2. Backup apps to SD card (with Ti or Astro)
4. Reboot into CWM recovery (red)
5. Wipe data, cache partition, dalvik cache
6. Disable Voodoo Lagfix and /System lagfix???
7. Install SC3 M2 from ZIP
8. Boot up into SC3 M2
9. Reboot into CWM recovery
10. Wipe cache partition and dalvik cache
11. Install KGB from ZIP
12. Boot into SC3 M2, then reboot back into CWM recovery
13. Enable voodoo lagfix and /system lagfix
14. Reboot

Am I correct about the points where I would disable lagfix?

At what point would I flash a different radio?

Thanks!

Radios can only be odined. I would use ec09. You can find the file in droidstyle's guide. He has a step by step write up for this.

If your already on SC M1 and the latest KGB, all you need to do is put the SC M2 zip on your SD card, wipe dalvik and install the SC M2 zip.. You don't need to reflash the kernel..

So EC09 radio will work with KGB_EH03_FA16 and SuperClean3 Milestone 2?

I am looking at droidstyle's guide now and it says the EC09 radio is compatible with any Fascinate ROM.

Will I need to re-flash my kernel or ROM after Odining the EC09 radio? I am planning to just follow the directions in section 7 here, so please stop me if there is anything different/additional I need to do!

Thanks!
