I am not sure if I understand this:
1. What is this "iphone 'speed sightings' on T-Mobile's 4G network"? what do they mean by "speed sightings"? Are these occasional 3G/4G speeds when still mostly EDGE, is that why it is a "sighting"?
2. How is this re-farming supposed to work? Are unlocked AT&T phones (phones with no 1700MHz antennas) only able to get 3G/4G only if t-mobile 1700MHz 4G is re-farmed to the 1900MHz band?
3. Does this mean that once T-Mobile deploys 4G LTE in mid-2013, AT&T unlocked phones will also work on t-mobile 4G LTE? Are T-Mobile 4G LTE going to be on 1900MHz or 1700MHz band?
4. Is the re-farming of 1700MHz 3G/4G to 1900MHz band is a separate and unrelated thing from the t-mobile 4G LTE? Is the re-farming just a temporary solution until 4G LTE comes to t-mobile?
I am not sure how to understand this news from T-Mobile.
I currently have an unlocked (unlock code from AT&T) AT&T Note II (SGH-I317) with a t-mobile 4G plan. I have 12 days to decide to cancel my t-mobile 4G plan and go back to AT&T, or stick with t-mobile and pay the $325 cancelation fee to AT&T. But I can't decide if it makes sense to stay with t-mobile or i should go back to AT&T. For now, extremely high data speed is not that important to me. I just cannot stand EDGE. If I can get 3G (6mbps down/ 2mbps up) I will stay w t-mobile. For the future, I want to know if I will ever be able to get 4G LTE on t-mobile with my AT&T Note II, even when it does not have the 1700MHz antenna. Or will I be required to get a 1700MHz t-mobile Note II to eventually get 4G LTE, in which case I should sell my unlocked AT&T Note II and buy a t-mobile Note II or switch to the Nexus 4 phone.
Any help understanding t-mobile's announcement is greatly appreciated.
