I did not, unfortunately, and am not willing to invest any more money to get it to work. :(
Well that sucks, the only reason I haven't been freaking out about it is cause I got a free tablet for opening a bank account. Still, I'd rather have it working lol. If anyone else has any ideas I'm open to hearing them. Next step I guess is wiring directly to the battery. Though I may desolder and try a different cable first.

Again, one one with any other thoughts please chime in, I'm not a noon when it comes to electronics and fixing them, but my soldering skill isn't exactly top notch.

I tried different contact points but still had the same results. I don't remember what points but it was close to the battery.

I literally just tried that haha, didn't get any results using the contacts on the system board though, no reaction what so ever. I'm gonna keep trying, might as well at this point, if I screw it up and brick it it's not like it's gonna matter, it's already bricked technically. If I do figure this out I'll post my results, but at this point I'm not hopeful.

Hi, sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I was given one of these tablets today with a broken usb socket. It seems this is a common problem with this tablet, possibly due to inferior parts. Anyway, can anyone tell me how to get the case open on this tablet. I'm hoping to replace the usb socket using a needle point iron if at all possible.

All you have to do is pry it open. I don't even need to use any tools, just my hands.
Yeah I figured it out, its just like almost every other tablet or phone, but a lot easier. My suspicions about the build quality of this tablet are getting deeper.

To add QI standard wireless charging to my TN7, first I took out the IO board, used my multimeter to find to contacts to the + and - 5V DC supply from the microusb on the board and soldered some wires to them as below:

The wires I took out of a spare usb cable. The other ends of the wires I soldered to the contacts of a QI reciever from which I had cut the microusb connector off and exposed some of the wires:

There is of course some tape applied to the soldered contacts on the QI receiver to prevent short circuits. I then peeled the sponge tape pads from the battery and repositioned them to allow the receiver coil to sit against the battery so that it would not cause a bulge in the device:

Finally I cut a section out of the copper heat spreader in the back cover:

All in all not a big job. The wires pass by the volume switches when the case is snapped back together in this case. The QI receiver used in this case can only charge the battery at about 15% per hour when the screen is off.
I have 1 doubt: You solder de receiver directly to the board? Dind't touch the battery connectors? I can plug an USB cable to that solder poits on the oi board? Red = + and Black = - right? Thanks!

I want to thanks all the good ideas and help here. Also, want to share that I successfully fix with a cable, for now, the charging issue. Isn't pretty, but ir works. I plan to add wireless charging in the future. Thanks for all the support here.

Thanks for this, i think it will be a great help as i have the old "broken usb port" issue, as of this morning :( Could you add a photo showing the underside of the sub-board with the port on? or is there a part number on the port itself?

I have just been on the phone with a device repair shop (who actually seemed to know what he was talking about!) who offers a repair service for £30. I asked him what this entailed, and to my surprise, rather than replace the sub-board housing the port etc. he said that they directly replace the port itself.

So im thinking ill replace the actual port, although there are loads of slight variation available. While the case is off ill probably add wireless charging so it will take some strain off the new port!

Has anyone done this before???

The board is hard to find. Port replacement is better to be done by people knowing what are they doing, and some kind of warranty. I just solder a GOOD usb cable as the pic on this thread and its working.

Dammit. Wrote a nice wright-up about how I saved my TN, then the website decided to eat my work and have me re-login. Argh!
Suffice to say, I picked up This wireless receiver pad for the Note 2 thats 1000mA, soldered it to the 2 points on the IO board, stuck the pad on the backside of the copper on the lower end of the tab above the battery, and it works like a charm. Tablet shows it is charging and shuts off successfully once it reaches 100%.

Glad I was able to save my tab from uselessnes due to a stupid shody microUSB port that is impossible to source ( along with that I/O board of non existence as well).
