[Q] Temp root, backup, then unlock?

I know this was able to be done on my HTC Vivid, which is why I am asking. Can we temporarily root, then backup with Titanium backup, then unlock the boot loader?

I dont think its possible on the international one x. Only the one xl can be rooted like that!
