You should be able to adb in recovery mode

Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Is there a command for doing a factory reset? Or what else do I need to wipe/format before I can get my phone fully working again without any force closes? Do also let me know if I need root access for any of those commands. Sorry for all the questions, I'm a total noob when it comes to ADB and I'm very grateful for all your help.

EDIT: Never mind, after a bunch of digging, I found that "wipe all" command wipes /system and /data. Not all things can be deleted, I got a bunch of permission denied errors. Fixed some of them by using the rooted stock ICS, then using superuser permissions to remount the system as rw. Didn't fix all errors, but it got my phone to stop giving gapps force closes so it seems to work perfectly now. I'm currently in the process of now reflashing GB, then updating to ICS so that my phone has stock ICS, no root, and all personal data and traces of modding gone.

Thanks to everyone who helped me. At least my phone will soon be pretty much in pristine condition for return, as if I was always on stock ICS and just did a factory reset. Power button still doesn't work, but oh well, I guess it was a hardware failure after all.

Can I just ask....if you're sending this phone back. And you won't have it anymore. And you're sending it back because it's broken.....why would you care about the emmc brick bug? Why go through all this trouble when you're sending the phone in?

To eliminate any chance of them charging me. I know it's really not likely, but for peace of mind's sake, I wanted my phone to be exactly in the condition I said it was when I requested the replacement, i.e. no root (which voids warranties), no trace of modding, no personal data, and stock ICS. I also wanted to make my phone work again and make sure it's not a software issue that was causing the power key, because if it was, I'd keep my original phone; it's in pretty great condition, and I have no idea if the new phone has any unknown issues that I'm currently unaware of. I actually only got to play with the new phone for like one day, because it arrived at my house after I went on vacation, and when I got back I only had like two days before I have to ship out one of the phones. Yeah it was a lot of trouble, but at least I got it all sorted out.

EDIT: Kies isn't updating it for me, LOL what a waste of time that was. Found Odin One-Click for stock UCLE5 with kernel in creepy's download repository, gonna use the no bootloader version. Yeah, I know it's supposed to have ICS bootloaders, but oh well, I went this far without bricking it and I'm not about to risk that now.
