Unrooted Moto G 4G first gen
Stock Android 4.4.4

Hello everyone. I'm kinda new to Android KitKat 4.4.4 and to the Moto G 4G, as my previous phone was a SE Xperia Ray with a custom Android 4.1 (or 4.2).

I bought the 4G version because of the external SD support. Now I need some help and information on how to use this SD card. I own a class 10, 32 GB card which seems to work with the phone (It doesn't say 'blank SD card' and it shows as an external storage location). However, I've read that class 10 cards are not really supported and the best alternative would be a class 6 card. I'm also not sure if it works correctly, because I've had some issues:

  1. If I go to 'Settings' > 'Storage' and scroll down to 'SD Card' it shows the amount of space used, but it doesn't tell me what the space is used for (e.g. Audio, or Pictures, Videos) like it does for the internal storage. Is that supposed to be so? In previous versions of Android it always told me how the used space was divided.
  2. If I move an app to sd (in 'Settings' > 'Apps' > 'On SD Card') it suddenly seems to take more space after it 'moved'. For example Netflix, normally ~40 mb, but after I moved it it was ~60 mb. That seems to be the opposite of how it should work. Is this feature broken? Or is it my SD card?

And lastly I would like to know what SD card features changed/were removed in Android KitKat. I would also like to mention that I don't intend to root my phone or anything warranty-breaking until the Moto G doesn't receive any official updates anymore. Thanks in advance.
