[Q]Update from SD Card failed !!! Please help

I have downloaded firmware from this thread

and the one I have downloaded is

China WIFI Only

4.0.3 R1A
info.update.sony.net/ST005/nbx03_024/contents/0010/signed-nbx03_024-ota-120803056.zip

when I turn on my tablet into recovery mode and selected choice 2 [ update system from sd card ]

it prompt several text as below

-- Install /sdcard ...
Finding update package...
Desklunvr update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Erohibit update as a result of checking version or base sku
Installation aborted.

and other question is can I use other android version which is not china wifi only ?

and here is my tablet, I got my tablet in china
Sony tablet S
Android Version: 4.0.3 Release1a
Kernel Version: 2.6.39.4 [email protected]#1

below are some more question I want to know please help me out if you can

what I want to know is

- I want to flash my tablet's android version to somewhere else which is not from china [ I don't like some of its built-in apps], can I do it with my tablet?
- If I want to flash it as I said above, am I have to root it first ?

1,same regain
2,rom version num. > old(not =)

your tab is 4.0.3 r1a,so can't "update" to r1a

if you want change regain,
1, root
2,change regain with "all in one" tool
2,update to a biger number(or crack version number & flash)

ps,不喜欢内建程序,可以root后干掉,同理可以补回阉割程序

"rom version num. old(not =)" means the Android version you are wanting to update to must be newer than the one you already have installed. The Android version cannot be older than or equal to the one you already have installed.

You can root Android 4.0.3r1a kernel 10. READ THIS THREAD. I greatly recommend you read the entire thread before attempting the root method.

I have already read this thread, but the problem is I never done anything like this before and I never play around with cmd

actually I have no idea what it is and how to type in any command that he said,,,but thanks you anyway I will try to find out how to do that

No root, those scripts .sh[1], .sh[2] etc should run and not fail like that. Have you tried a rollback?? Special > Rollback

yes, I have tried rollback, but it comes out the same. and I also tried both v.13 and v.14
