The Infuse's lag has been brutal from day one. I even swapped the phone out after three months because I thought I had bad hardware.

It's just simply too slow.

I'm going to pick up a used I777 or I727 and I'd like to know which you prefer. I know this is the I777 forum, but if you have experience with both, and were upgrading from the Infuse, what might you pick?

I'm in Chicago which has LTE. Curious if the hardware differences between the two are enough to notice in general performance. Would like to run custom JB roms without it lagging. Infuse lags like you wouldn't believe.

So, if you were me, what would you buy and why?

Oh, I'm not doing the III because my contract isn't up for another year and might as well wait for the IV to come out by then. :)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your opinions!!!

The consensus is that the i777 is smoother than the i727, but the i727 have the edge on data connectivity, of course. Some say that the difference is noticeable, some say it isn't. In my case, i was able to use a friend's i727, and i thought that both phones where smooth enough, but the i727 drains more battery, because of the larger screen + 4g data. That was totally noticeable.

If LTE is a must for you, and I mean a MUST, then go for the skyrocket. The specs are marginally better for the i777, as you might already know. The i777 doesn't have LTE, leaving you with H+. So I would say this, go i777 if you want performance/superior hardware and development. If you want LTE, that is the only advantage that the skyrocket (i727) has over the i777.

Edit: As a side note, the i777 has an Exynos processor. I'm not sure if you have read up on this stuff but Samsung has documentation and source issues, meaning that lots of things won't work 100% or will take time to patch. I believe Skyrocket has a Snapdragon S3? I'm not sure about what is working with them or not but for i777 we have issues with the hw composer and audio. You can read more about this in various threads in out forum.

Oh, thats true too. Development is way more active on the i777. Forgot that point.

I've used both the i777 and i727 and the speed differences are generally the same. Never noticed lagginess on the i727, the chip on i777 is better but daily use the Skyrocket is a solid phone not to mention a bigger screen. I'd say go for the i727, not to mention JB should be further along for it than for the Exynos based phones

After more research, i found that most people tend to say that the i777 has a more powerfull chipset, and that you will notice it when playing intensive 3D games or using 3D animations, maybe flash content, but for daily task, like texting, calls, browsing (Maybe you will notice a little difference here too), reading and stuff like that, both phones are pretty much the same.

I think chipset matters very little with higher-end phones these days. Software optimization is what is key. Before I had my i777, I had an LG Thrill 4g. The chipset on that phone is much weaker than the i777 according to all benchmarks. But I noticed that phone ran games at a higher frame rate than the i777 does. I'd say choose between greater dev support, which can mean having all sorts of cool features (i777) or bigger screen and LTE (i727).
