[Q] USB Charging with Pc/Mac

I'm having an issue,and seems not just me,that I can't charge the Tab via usb connected on a laptop or a Mac book (pro).
I'm wondering if its firmware related, I've tried JID and JI6 same issue.
Are you guys having the same?
If someone is not having this problem can please be so nice to tell me the firmware version?

Samsung chargers have resistor inside to identify is this correct charger on not (should have 2A). PC USB cannot provide sufficient power.

Hint: You can still use ANY charger if you switch your device off!

So this doo-dad seems to boost the output of standard (2.0) USB ports to allow ipads to charge.

FWIW: I have a handful of computers, and noticed some USB ports make a little red-x come over the battery symbol while I have my SGT plugged in. I guess it aint charging right, in this case.

hmm..i charge mine from my pc everyday.
either from my home pc or my work pc...no issues other than its slow to charge -but it definitely charges on either computer.

I thought this is only for motherboards that actually support it? Mine has this support but I've never bothered to try it.

Charging from Toshiba Qosmio laptop, but it seems too slow..

I actually made a special USB charging adapter specially for GTab:

You can charge right with powered USB hub with it or ANY car USB charger.
It's more ideal to have 1A or more for faster charging.

mine says not charging in battery status but it does actually, but very slowly..like 6 hrs from 15%-100%

Yes, it does charge even though it shows that it is not.

The Tabs charger is 2A, and most USB ports only output 1A max, so it does take a long time to charge via USB.
