[Q] Vivo BR Jelly Bean

Hi,

I live in Brazil and I'm currently using a RAZR HD with a custom rom from my local carrier Vivo. Though Motorola already update long time ago the retail devices, subsidized ones seems far from receive Jelly Bean update. Motorola say "just wait for a notification pop up, it'll happen 'til the end of march".

Does anyone knows if this and other custom roms (TIM, Claro, Oi) in Brazil were already compiled and distributed?

Where's is the Vivo files?

Should I flash it via RSD Lite or is better wait for the OTA to come? Sorry for the newbie question.

Wait for OTA!!!! If you flash via RSD, even with locked bootloader you'll be stuck on jb forever, and never would back to ics... as long as you unlock your bootloader.... But, by self experience, don't unlock your bootloader, and stay in ics for now, the brazillian jb version have a bad battery!

Se você flashear pelo RSD, mesmo que você tenha o bootloader bloqueado (porque é possível), você vai ficar preso na rom do JB que você flashear, e não vai mais conseguir voltar pro ICS, a não ser que você desbloqueie o bootloader, e mesmo assim, voltando pro ICS você vai ter alguns problemas pra inicializar....
Portanto, por experiencia própia, não desbloqueia o bootloader e fica com o ICS por agora, a versão brasileira do JB acaba com a bateria! Sem falar que não tem root ainda, só se vc desbloquear o bootloader.....

Além do que, aparentemente ainda não há rom JB das operadoras. Esse consumo de bateria aumentado não é causado pelo Google Now?

I have heard it a few times, but I did not find consistent reports of this and from what I read, in relation to the RAZR HD, there is only one isolated report here on the forum. And also there is no JB version from carriers yet (not for the RAZR HD). This increased battery consumption is not caused by Google Now?

Eu também quando fui atualizar o meu encontrei esse caso isolado que você disse, e logo pensei: comigo não vai acontecer, e aconteceu... Mas o que parece é que várias versões estão com problemas de bateria.
E sim, o google now a parte gasta muita bateria, mas o problema maior em si não é ele. Se você atualizar via OTA o problema da bateria é que um processo chamado com.motorola.servicediallingnumbers.com vai impedir o celular de dormir, ou seja adeus bateria... Já se você atualizar via RSD, pela rom retail, o problema de bateria é um pouco menor (não tendo esse tal de servicediallingnumbers), mas mesmo assim não se compara ao ICS... Conforme você usa o celular vai 1~2% de bateria por minuto, isso é muito bizarro, e frustante.

Gente, comprei o meu na vivo e na primeira semana eu baixei e flasheei a rom ICS 4.0.4 retail. Dai aceitei o OTA para JB e tive os problemas que vocês mencionaram, só que dai eu dei um factory reset (através do stock recovery, sem ser o das configurações do android.) e todos os problemas sumiram. O celular entra em deep sleep depois disso também. Vai custar o ROOT do aparelho (caso tenha rooteado), porém os problemas de bateria ou quaisquer outros somem do seu Jelly Bean.

Hoje em dia eu desbloqueei o bootloader, mandei pra pqp e uso CM10 hehehe. Sou mto feliz. Só é uma pena o CM10 não ter HDMI, mas o cara que fez o serviço e botou CM10 no razr hd é brasileiro, o que dá mta satisfação, pq todo dono de razr hd no mundo depende do trabalho dele (epinter o nick dele).

Then I accepted OTA for JB and I had some of the problems you all mentioned, but then I did a factory reset (throught stock recovery, not inside android.) and all the problems were gone. The cellphone enters in deep sleep after this also. It will cost the root (in case you rooted), but the battery problems or any other will all be gone.

Nowadays I have unlocked bootloader, sent to pqp and use CM10. I´m very happy. It´s just bad that we don´t have HDMI after CM10, but the guy who is dealing with it is brazilian, what makes us proud, as every razr hd owner depends on him and I´m pretty sure he is putting all his efforts on it. (his nick is epinter).

Well, just received the update from Vivo via OTA so now I can confirm that, yes, there's rom compiled for the RAZR HD sold by Vivo. As soon as I start to use it I'll be able to say if the battery lasts more or less. However, with my usage til now running stock ICS is not that good when I let HSDPA+ on. People out there using 4G are achiving better performance than me, I think.

UPDATE:

Yes, JB update is insanely draining the battery. How can I do the stock recovery you mentioned? Will it void warranty?
