hi,

My friends phone is already rooted, which I did a couple of months ago. Now I also want to S-off it. But I formatted my pc in the meanwhile, so there's no drivers for the Desire on my laptop.

Which drivers are necessary for S-off?

I'm now using linux (ubuntu 11.10) and virtual box with the alpharev iso loaded, but the usb selection menu says 'no devices'. So that's why I think there's a driver missing.

Grtz & Thanks!

So why don't I see any devices in the USB list of Virtualbox?

I've checked USB debugging and USB mode is charge only...?

You have to "connect" device to VirtaulBox first- right click on USB icon (right bottom of VirtualBox window) and select phone from the list
yeah I know, but that list is empty... :(

but I already managed to S-off using Revolutionary, but I would still like to know the answer out of curiosity...

Grtz

It's for VirtualBox (downloads).
But IMO it would be better to use linux liveCD/liveUSB for this
Thanks, but I already managed to S-off with Revolutionary, just wanted to know why this problem accured in the first place.

I used virtualbox a couple of months ago to S-off another Desire and it worked perfectly though. Although this was on a windows PC.

I already encountered another strange problem though :s :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306260

Thanks again.
