i am considering buying the HD+ for mostly media playback.
I would like to hear about your experiences with playing ripped dvd/blueray movies on this device.
thank you.

Watched Star Trek the other night. Was a Blu Ray rip to around 2.6gb. Downloaded via tTorrent direct to the (additional) MicroSD card (32gb)
Played great in the Archos player. Audio and video in sync. Subtitles available as well.

I roll my own bd rips with makemkv and handbrake.

plays great on the HD+ with MX Player

I crop 4x3 HD content (star trek etc..) to 960x720 with mx player zoom feature it fills the HD+ screen
only cutting just a bit of the top and bottom...looks great at full screen.

I appreciate your info. I think I am going to pick up the 32 gig version.
would the HD+ have the battery life to last for 8hr's ?
I work 8-12 hr shifts with lot's of free time to kill.
again thank you for the info.

I use DVD CATALYST to rip dvd's - with the NOOK HD+ setting...movies are stored on my micro SD card and look great on the nook played using the built-in video player.... whether the battery will last as long as you like, I can't say... haven't put it to the test yet.
