What does it really mean when they say that the Defy's bootloader is locked? How does it affect the development of custom roms? And what is the status of the petition for unlocking the bootloader? Thanks!

:confused::what:

it means that we cannot change the motorola kernel (e.g. drivers are stock motorola), so we have to work whatever moto provided us with. thats why ics will never work fully on the defy.
as for the petition, it doesnt really matter, motorola doesnt give a damn about the defy anymore, its an outdated device, they wont unlock it whatever we do.
