I've managed to reduce the net_schedulder wakelocks heavily by stopping Google play services (they reactivate immediately) manually once after every reboot.
In my case, the post quoted above is a good workaround for the net_scheduler abnormal wakelock.

I´m using already MyAndroidTools Pro for a long time to disable certain services and recivers in Google Play Services. It´s in fact overloaded and causing the most battery drain by it´s huge amount of wakelocks. Without it, it wouldn´t be necessary to introduce doze in Marshmalow which works but is a pain when it comes to Wifi and real time notifications.

Btw I´m also having an old Android smartphone with an old Google Play Services version that is not overloaded. This Play Services are locked to not getting updated. Whatsapp and so on still working. Just this phone lasts for almost one week in Standby and Wifi on with its tiny 1500mA/h battery because there are almost no wakelocks.

However, with the new Play Services on my current phone I noticed net_scheduler only causing wakelocks when I´m on mobile data. No wakelocks when on Wifi. So now disabled the scheduling recivers as well.

Nah. This is not the way i locked it. Honestly i do not remember exactly how I did it so would have to do some research to tell you. But what i can remember is I tried something simmilar as you first and this didn´t work es expected. Downgrating to the system version made things worse and i had to reflash and reset the phone entirely new. Then I installed a 3th party App from SD Card and locked it with this app.

Nowadays I´m not locking it in my present phone but using MyAndroidTools to disable all the unneeded crap in Play Services. The old device is getting used to GPS locate my car. This way you can make sure it´s still there you left it, got stolen or your wife/gf is really shopping or elsewhere :p

*make sure you read the app notes and install the appropriate version for your device!!!
How come this is on some website but can't be officially downloaded ? In this era of viruses, spyware and ransomware I'm always reluctant to download from websites like this.
