Unrevoked to root. Please post your phone details so we know which recovery you need - the PVT number specifically.

I recommend Oxygen for a non sense rom. Great battery life and fast :)

Boot into hboot.
Power off
Hold the vol down key and power on (still holding vol down)

You will get a white screen.
Post the details here.

Ok, you can just use unvevoked to root. Just follow the instructions on the website.
Make sure that:
You install then uninstall htc sync before you do anything. This will leave the required drivers on your PC.
USB debugging is set to on, on your phone.
You run unrevoked as administrator if you're not on XP.
You turn off any antivirus.

Oxygen/CM7(/AOSP) is maybe to advanced if you just start flashing.

Try LeeDroid A2SD - its like an improved Stock ROM.

i have downloaded unrevoked and installed then uninstalled HTC sync. Started up unrevoked and it does the 1st part, pushes something to phone and then reboot. it then says waiting for bootloaded. The drivers are installed.

Antivrus/firewall off?
Have you installed the 2 drivers from the unrevoked site?

I'm running miui rom with a custom kernal and radio. I would love to show you but i cant find the thread where i got it from. I've always had an issue with my battery because im a heavy user but this just really works for me.
