well, we'll know within the first few months if it will be a community supported device, and if it isn't I'll sell it and go to something that is supported. Even if this is an amazing device, root is needed for me anyway

Users that don't know or care about root/locked bootloaders etc. never find these kind of sites in the first place.
Why is there pessimism on achieving root? I can see that for unlocking the phone.
Yeah, I agree with this. AT&T N3 just got root, so it's only a matter of time. However, custom recovery may never happen, with big red.
I truly appreciate everything the custom rom chef's do, but i have to admit at least for me this will probably be my first device where i would be 100% happy running stock with root only.
I could get behind that statement. Root does go a long way.
Root is important but it is only the first step. Custom recovery and the ability to flash ROM make things more complete.
We'll get root! Big red can't stop this thriving community. We're smarter than they are!

Come on guys, gaining root and having bootloaders unlocked is going to happen no matter what. It's just going to take a while. People have always said, "Oh, the phone is locked and it will not be unlocked ever because it is impossible." Oh please, there werent any smartphones that werent able to get bootloader unlocked so far, at least until galaxy note 2. Let the time go by and just wait instead of whining that it is never going to happen. Software is created by people. That means software is never perfect and there are always some exploits or workarounds. Again, just wait.
I agree it will probably be rooted.
I really don't think there's much chance at all that the BL will be cracked,
S4 BL still locked. And it's locked hard. Why wouldn't n3 be locked harder (; enjoy the stock experience. Welcome to being like everyone else in the world.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't Custom Roms still be made and installed without the BL being unlocked? I thought there was a way to bypass it (S-OFF vs S-ON).
S-Off is a HTC thing. If we can get root, best chance for ROMs is going to be a safestrap method on the Note 3.
