[Q] What's the best firmware to use right now?

So I have a rooted NB4 right now. Luckily I froze the update service right after I got that update, so I still have root. But I can't help but feel like I'm missing something. NC2 is still not rootable, correct? I don't really understand safestrap. Is there a way to use safestrap to do something with NC2, or a close-to-stock ROM that I could use in safestrap? I just want a few more options, but something with CM or stock level of stability.
