People, I just got a refurbished XOOM a few days back. This is the WiFi only US model. I checked the status, and it says its still on 3.2. I see that there should be atleast 2 OTA updates for this - one to 3.2.1 and one to 4.0.3. But when I check for system updates, I keep getting this "You system is up to date!" message. I connected it to WiFi and let it sit for a couple of days now, and still no updates. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone is this same situation? A search did not turn up anything on the forums nor on google.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I would prefer not to root it for atleast the first 90 days while it is still in warranty.:D

Current system info:

Model Number : MZ604
Android Version : 3.2
Firmware : GAS_EMEA_USAHUBLWFRTDACH_P009
Build number: H.6.6-23

Thanks

I had similar problem I just rooted and updated manually. Since this is a developer tablet Motorola provides all the software to restore back to stock if you need a warranty replacement.

Mine is the same. 1saleaday.com? Did you have a strange plug adapter you had to use? I dont think we got the US version.
Yep. 1saleaday.com

I got the micro USB cable with it. I think you might have gotten the OTG cable (Micro USB Host Cable) instead.

I thought I was getting the US version!. When I powered it on for the first time, the language was in German. I just assumed that the language got changed by accident.

The funny part is, I am not able to find this build H.6.6.23 on the motorola page (http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/). So how do we figure out which version this is?

Thanks. But how would I know which version I have? As mentioned ^, H.6.6.23 is no where to be found? Was your build the same? Or was it different?

I wanted to get the XOOM so I can get the official version of ICS, but it looks like that's not going to happen

Mine is H6.6.23. So if you follow the instructions you'll be fine! It's very straight forward instructions.

Sent from my Xoom using XDA

For anyone wondering, 6.6.23 build is for Retail Germany. The progression of updates is as follows:

6.2.351 (3.0.1) > 6.4.20.1 (3.1) > 6.6.23 (3.2)

So, if you do need to go back to the original stock, it would be 6.2.351

This is great news. I am also having an issue with my xoom not charging, it says charging and then says to connect to charger and it's discharging while i use it plugged in. Is this normal?

I have the normal usb cable, it's the power adapter that's odd. It's the same plug as something like a heave duty air conditioner or something 220watt, and it has an adapter to make it plug into a normal outlet.

I also got the 1saleaday xoom and had the same h 2.6.6-23 build

I followed the instructions posted in the thread about about how to GED-ify your xoom and it will revert back to US 3.2 then it will see an update and keep updating you (i had like 5 total) all the way up to iml77 build aka ICS

what you have is a european outlet, with a converter to match US outlets. my dad always travels with a US>euro converter.

Please Help

I like many also purchased the moto xoom from 1saleaday which I received today but was very disappointed to see it is NOT the US version so I am running into the same problem of not being able to update to ICS! The instructions seem simple but it is not something I feel comfortable doing on my own.. Can someone please post a video on youtube showing step by step how to do this (PLEASE) I am very new to this all and dont want to ruin my device.. not interested in having the device rooted with custom roms or anything like that, I just want the official ICS release. Also for anyone reading this if you reside in the orange county, ca. area and know anyone who is HONEST and REPUTABLE who can to do this for me for free or small fee please let me know. Thank You

while you would have no reason to trust most people on here, there are money on here who could do this for you (or walk/talk you through). I dont have a camera that would allow me to do a walk-through for you, but someone might (or it might already exist)

I think you might be better off sticking to Honeycomb for now, until Google and Motorola start pushing ICS officially to other versions. Even though the instructions seem simple, things can go wrong, especially if you have never done this before. This is just a word of caution.

If you really want to do this, I would suggest reading up on setting up adb access on your pc first. This would include - installing the proper motorola drivers, getting your pc to recognize your xoom when you connect it, and getting adb to see your device. Since this does not make any changes to your xoom, you should be ok if something doesn't work as intended.

Once you have this first part setup, then you can venture on to the next parts. The most critical thing is to find instructions that are specific to your device and version, and to stop doing what you are doing if the result of a step doesn't exactly match with the instructions.

I'm sure someone can walk you through the complete process, but if you are not comfortable doing it, you'd be better off letting someone else do it for you, rather than follow instructions over phone or watching a video.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I order the same thing from 1daysale also... I have the same build and everything.. Do I have to download the Germany build and then go back to stock? then flash again to US?

can i used this to flash back to Germany stock?

I am not sure if we will be able to switch back but to be honest I don't see any point, at least this way you can get updates straight from Google as it will now be classes as a Google Experience Device. Also everything works exactly the same and even Android market shows up in £'s. The only thing is it will be in US language and the keyboard will be a US one and not UK. If you use Swift Key X tablet it wont matter as you can download the English language anyway.

Unfortunately it will wipe everything when you unlock the bootloader. I have only had my Xoom for a month so I didn't mind loosing my game saves (gives me a reason to play again) so backup any documents, photos, music and films to your PC before you start.

You can get Xoot here: [TOOL] XOOT 1.1: Root your XOOM and more! - xda-developers just download the ZIP file at the bottom of the first post.
Unzip Xoot to the main directory of your PC (usually C drive)

I also downloaded and installed the xoom USB drivers from the Moto dev website. I am not 100% sure if these are needed but on my first try my computer had trouble picking up my xoom, but after I installed these it seemed to work (please note I restarted my PC after the install). I downloaded the ones for Windows 7 64bit but just download what ever one is relevant for your computer MOTODEV > Documentation & Tools > USB Drivers

The US stock rom image came from the Moto Dev website but you will have to register before you can download anything. Its a simple registration and wont take you long.
On the Moto Dev page you need go about half way down the page and look for the section MZ604 - XOOM WITH WIFI. At the bottom of that section you will see Build HWI69 for US Retail, which is what you need to download: MOTODEV > Products > Device Software
Once you have downloaded this extract the contents straight into the main Xoot folder on your PC and overwrite any files that may already be there.

Now connect your xoom with USB, make sure USB debugging is selected on your xoom (this should happen automatically but check in settings just in case)

Open up the Xoot folder and click on the Xoot batch file icon (looks like little gears)
A black command box will open up, press S to go into the bootloader settings and type unlock and hit return.

Follow the commands on the command box and then the same on your xoom and it will unlock the bootloader.

Once that has completed close Xoot on your PC and restart your Xoom (you may have to go through the set up screens on your xoom to get back to the home screen) again make sure USB debugging is selected on your xoom

Again open Xoot batch file icon but this time press D which will take you to the Other Tweaks menu.

Press S and you will be given another set of menus

now type ged and hit return and again follow any instructions on screen or on your xoom(this converts your xoom into a google experience device and uses the US image downloaded from moto dev)

After that has finished your Xoom will start up and after going through the first time set up screens you will have Android 3.0 US. You should then get instant notifications that updates are available (I think I had 3 or 4 in total) install them and eventually you will have ICS!!

It sounds like a lot at first but its straight forward really. On my first attempt I was crapping myself because I had not done it before but afterwards I realized how easy it really was, and now I am chuffed to bits playing with ICS

Also note this does not root your xoom, only unlocks the bootloader and converts it to a GED. There is an option to root but I have not played with that yet

Good luck and if you have any problems just let me know. I will try my best to help
