I have the same problem. I have both a Nexus 9 and a Nexus 7, both on Lollipop. Only the N9 has the problem. So i have this problem that my devices after it sleeps for a while disconnectis from wifi and says authentication problem. I just have to manually reconnect to my wifi. This is beyond annoying. Any chance of a hardware defect on these?I have the same problem. I have both a Nexus 9 and a Nexus 7, both on Lollipop. Only the N9 has the problem.

Are you just talking about safe mode?I found a possible answer on another forum.

It's for the N5, but may be applicable. I'm @ work now but I'll try this when I get home.
Yes and no. If the problem is a third party app, factory reset won't fix it, unless you restore as new and don't reinstall any apps. Safe mode will at least let you see if it's a third party app although you won't be able to do a lot with the tablet while it's in safe mode. Just email, youtube, etc.Are you just talking about safe mode?
I can factory reset my table and see if that helps.

But if it's happening every time the tablet sleeps - mine's not, just about once a week or so - you only need to let it sleep in safe mode and wake it back up to see if it's a third party app.
Something else to look at - here's an AOSP issue track thread on Lollipop WiFi problems. See post #60. I will certainly try this on mine. Its not every time it sleeps.
For sure over night or a long sleep. Pretty much every time if its extended.
I will try safe mode and post back.
That looks like wifi never works. not stops after sleep.Something else to look at - here's an AOSP issue track thread on Lollipop WiFi problems. See post #60. I will certainly try this on mine.

Some of the posts were wifi not working at all, some were after sleep. Either way, it looked like it worked for me for a couple of days, but this morning it was disconnected. That looks like wifi never works. not stops after sleep.

TiBackup ran last night, and it was supposed to sync to the cloud. It errored out with a connectivity problem. Thinking back, I believe the last time it dropped was on a scheduled backup day. I'm not certain, though.
Did you try safe mode, and if so, did it help at all?
Well, at least with Lollipop it's easier to rebuild from a factory reset. Guess I'll have to do that too.So i did safe mode for 24 hours and that fixed it.
So i did a factory reset, and that appears to have fixed it also.
Not sure what app broke it. I had no crazy app installed a few games tapatalk titanium. etc.
WEIRD!
But thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
