is it just me or why doesnt my nvidia shield tablet support my 5ghz network. I even downloaded wifi analyzer just to see if i could listen on the 5ghz band and the 5g button on the top left doesnt appear.

I don't know what "5g button" you're talking about. But under settings/wifi, my 5ghz network shows up as an available network to connect to, in addition to my 2.4ghz network.

5g is a button that appears in WiFi analyzer if the device supports dual band. Luckily now I can see that 5g button but I can't see my 5ghz network from my Linksys e2000 running ddwrt. Is anyone else a bit annoyed that it didn't have 802.11ac?

I got mine connected to 5GHz on my Apple Airport Extreme router 6th gen. This worked only when I just took it out of the box and turned it on. There was an OTA update. I updated it. Still connected to 5GHz band after WiFi. I added the ports necessary for Remote Gamestream and rebooted my router. After that no more 5GHz. I think the OTA kills it.

I have the same problem, It seems that the 5ghz is limited to band 1 (thats channels 36, 40, 44 and 48) even though there are 19 available to UK consumers. I complained to Nvidia about it and they can find no problem (they did offer to RMA my tablet) I suspect that in order to fix this we'll be needing a different firmware blob from broadcom (assuming we have a broadcom radio in this thing)
