You shouldn't obsess about a video like this playing through hardware. There will be little difference in quality. Believe me, I am very obsessive about these things myself.Yeh that's pretty fair I guess. How do you think it would manage if converted to MP4? I can do it on my 950 when I get home and send you it if you like? I'd not mind converting the whole lot if it played in the stock player.
There are some things that will benefit from re-encoding. This isn't one.
The purpose of hardware decoding is to handle processor-intensive, high bit-rate files. The XOOM's CPU with dual core A9's is already overkill for the type of file that you want to play. Just play it with RockPlayer in Software mode and save yourself the time and trouble.
Edit: To answer your question though: If you really wanted to play it as MP4 then yes, you could probably re-encode it in seconds on your machine, and yes it would play with hardware, but probably with little visible difference.
