im trying to research into it all, unfortunately without a good copy of your ta.img it seems like the best we could absolutely hope for is to get you back into the situation you were in before you hex edited the image. make sure you keep multiple copies of that ta.img btw, since you cnat use anyone elses...

Good news, the guy I bought the phone from had a backup of the TA.img but it was after he unlocked boot loader. I now have a 16gb sdcard if it needs to boot from sd.

Hi, I think I'm lucky to have read your case before I tried modifying my IMEI.... I have a Z1 on android 4.4.2 (rooted). Do you think there is a way I could change it's IMEI without bricking it? If I attempt this and I got it hard bricked, can I get it back to life if I made a backup of it's original TA partition?

It's illegal to modify your IMEI and discussion about it is not allowed here. You will definitely hard brick your device if you attempt it anyway and a TA backup will not help restore it, as you won't even be able to boot your phone to a state where it can be restored.

How did u flash ur original TA.IMG to ur hard bricked phone please inform me of it.

Please tell me how did u flash TA.img to ur hard bricked Sony phone. Cuz my xzu is also hard bricked any help is very appreciated. It's is the only phone that I got which could be customized according to my needs current phone cannot be.
Nor I am trying to destroy another.
