Help. im trying to install nut;s xadualrecovery but it wont install on my z1. it says that no sucg file or directory when its on step 2 of sending recovery files. please help me.

Do you have a microsd card inserted? I had the same kind of error when I was trying to install the recovery without it.
yes. i have an sd inserted. how do i fix this? ireally want to install a custom rom. please help
Check drivers and usb cable and port and also debugging is on
Settings->Development->debugging->revoke authorization
Download latest recovery from nuts website
See in supersu app if adb is denied access.
Extract all contents of recovery zip to a folder and try running it again..
did all that but still no avail. everytime i restart my z1. the green led doesnt turn on. i t goes directly to the xperia screen the the home screen.
I got it working now. I went back to Windows 7 and it worked. Im never going back to windows 8.1
you need to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement to install drivers in windows 8+
