With the latest update, it is very obvious that our evo lte is nearing the end of its supported lifespan (both sprint and dev community). Many of us who purchased the evo lte on the release date aren't eligible for an upgrade until 1/1/2014 which is really only a few months away. I usually try to keep my phones for a full 24 months so I want to go with a tri band lte phone and it seems that there are a few options. I am curious to find out what everyone is waiting for... At this point, I think I am holding out for the Nexus 5 although I have never owned a LG device so I am a bit apprehensive. Samsung mega is too big and I don't really want to wait until March/April for the GS5. Does anyone have any thoughts? Did I miss anything? How is the mod community for Samsung? LG?

Note 3(not tri-band)

LG G2 (October 11th - Preorder - Oct 25 release)
HTC One Max
LG Nexus 5 (Last week of October?)
Samsung Mega
Samsung GS5 (Q1).

Sorry to start yet another thread on this but I wasn't able to find anything recent or useful.

Note 3 and ATT here I come.
the only thing preventing me from going to verizon & ATT is the data caps. I keep thinking what's the point of LTE if there's a cap? also having to actively think about whether i'm going over is not something i want to do. i'm looking more at tmobile, hopefully they are okay in illinois.

I'm going nexus 5 and ditching Sprint as soon as it comes out. For me, I've been wanting a nexus for the google supported updates, and a carrier free phone. The Sprint network is basically becoming a joke for me, with many places in Stl having no data connection at all. I hope the n5 is as affordable as the n4, and with the snapdragon 800, 1080p, 2gb specs it appears it will be top of the line this time. For the network, I will either join up on a shared tmo plan or get straight talk att.

Xiaomi sold out of 100,000 Mi3's in less than 90 seconds yesterday.
They sold out of 3000 MiTV's in less than 2 minutes also..
The Mi3 is too sick.
I hope Hugo brings Xiaomi over here soon.

regarding upgrading:

I decided on the NEXUS 5 after playing with my new-to-me e4glte for a week now. Great upgrade from my Evo3d. Sprint wanted $149 on upgrade, or $449 for the Nexus5. Wtf? its $349 from google??!?!

So I pulled a smooth move and bought a 32gig Iphone 5c for $199... then walked right down to gamestop and promptly got $448 plus 30% extra (bought a used game for a dollar) = $582. So minus my $199 purch price and I netted enough to pay cash for my Nex5 straight from google. SUCK IT SPRINT!

I'm all sort of excited to have a nexus finally. And I love that I can use the NEx5 on most carriers later. AND it will support "spark" from sprint
