[Q] Zenwatch "defect"? Anyone else experience this?

Just wanted to share my recent experience with my Zenwatch and what may or maynot be a defect, and see if anybody else has experienced a similar issue.

I received my Zenwatch on Dec 29th, and wear it pretty much all the time. As a teacher I have found a lot of uses for it and find that without it I feel lost. Anyways, this past Monday I took my watch hand out of my pocket and as I did so my Zenwatch left my wrist and fell to the floor, much to my surprise! After examining it I found that the watch had broken at the top of the watch, where the metal piece that holds the strap connects to the main body (See picture below). The whole piece simply separated from the watch body, leaving behind a rough edged feeling where it had connected before though I was hard pressed to tell if something broke or what. Personally, I believe something broke. I bought it through the Play store and thankfully Google was very helpful and immediately shipped me another one giving me complimentary overnight shipping and all.

Has anybody else experienced this same issue or could it just have been a fluke?

I haven't had that issue, and I'm sorry that you have!

However, I was wondering about your statement about being a teacher and finding it invaluable. I, too, am a teacher, but have found no real use for this watch in my classroom (other than as a watch, or surreptitiously reading text messages).

How do you use it in class?

I teach language arts in a middle school and the Zenwatch has helped make the transition to a paperless class a bit easier than it was before. I integrate as much technology as I can in the classroom in as many different ways as I can, it helps keep the kids attention and opens the door for many different ideas/options. For example, instead of having to sit at a computer to check whether or not an assignment has been turned in, or carrying around an ipad, or taking my phone out, I can check for notifications on my watch. This is particularly useful when using google classroom and edublogs. I've also found remote link to be invaluable for controlling my projector (via my laptop) while I walk around the room, now I do not need to carry a clicker or remote control and my hands are free! I no longer need to pull out my phone or Ipad to jot down a note/email, etc. I also use my watch to help me with my daily to-do-lists via todoist (todolist). It also allows me to stay hands free when I use it to control music via bluetooth speakers (jazz, classical crossover/synthpop - Mindi Abair & Bond - very fast, upbeat Jazz & wordless pop ) in the classroom. I also use it with my school email (google) for hangouts, where if a student is not comfortable asking questions out loud, they can message me during class. I have even used the remote camera to take pictures of the kids when they were really engaged and my phone was on my desk (I also handle the yearbook & for evidence for standards or to show their parents how well they are working). There are many other ways that I use it as well. To be honest, it's harder for me to find a way not to use it than for me to find ways to use it.

All fabulous ideas! Thanks!!!

damn

I have EXACTLY the same issue, holder of strap just disconnected from watch body.
looks like it's a bad design and eventually it will fail on all zenwatches. now it's time to figure it out, how this can be repaired.

Zenwatch Lug fell off

I had the same problem with my Zenwatch. Accidently dropped it on the floor and the lug fell off. No obvious way to re-attach it. Just past one-year warranty period, so I'll have to cover the cost. I'll try to get a quote from the service agent first before deciding whether or not to have it repaired.

If anyone else has had a similar experience, please let me know. Cheers, Thomas
