Which OS.... JUST to clarify one thing.

The drivers are not signed drivers so windows 8 onwards won't allow them to be installed. It seems you are on Windows 10.

To install unsigned drivers on Windows you will have to boot in test mode by enabling "allow installing unsigned drivers".

Lookup Google for further details on how to do this if not understood.

Both method should work. I have attempted on Windows 7 and windows 10. It works on both but obviously you have to install by disabling signature verification and during use also.

It's very easy... Just go back few posts you will find a download link from where you can get full s288 rom and unlock bootloader with flashing twrp and superSu etc... Complete guide is present...

Best Regards.
NOTE:
1. Make sure you have downloaded everything that you will need before you proceed.
2. I have tried my best to include every small detail that I remember but please understand am not developer am just trying to help out.
3. Backup all important data before you start the process. There will not be data loss if you are already on S288 stock rom and just going to flash boot unlocker and TWRP. However it's better to have proactive backup than being sorry later.
4. If you are on older stock rom version then carry out all the steps to get S288 installed first then other steps. If you go to step 8 then there will be data over writing.

Steps:
1.Download P1a42_S288_160721_ROW_RAW_QFIL.rar from the link (see post no. 107 by me for link) .
2.Extract the rar file in some folder on your computer.
3.Download SuperSu from the link (see post no 82 by amitritu_1509 for link) and extract it on root of SD Card of your phone.
4.Open QFIL.
5.Load prog_emmc_firehose_8936.mbn in select programmer option.
6.If you are already on S288 version then jump directly to step 12.
7.Click on load xml file.
8.Load rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml.
9.Switch off your Vibe P1 and connect to USB port of your computer. It should be detected as QUALCOMM COM port automatically.
10.If it does get detected click on download button.
11.Your download progress will start. After download is completed your phone will restart automatically.
12.After first boot (which may take longer time) go to settings -> Developer options and enable OEM unlocking.
13.Switch off your Vibe P1 and connect to USB port of your computer. It should be detected as QUALCOMM COM port automatically.
14.Click on load xml file.
15.Load rawprogram0_aboot+twpr.xml and patch0.xml.
16.Click on download button. While download progress is running press and hold volume up and volume down button simultaneously till you see TWRP flash screen.
17.Once you boot in to TWRP recovery then flash install SuperSu that you kept on SD Card in step 3 above to obtain root access.
18.You may restart to normal system now.

After flashing supersu, is there a need to clear/wipe dalvik cache?

Moreover, is there a way to unlock BL and flash twrp recovery by means of adb side load?

But, I'll come back to you once I'm successful or not.

Many thanks

1. It is always advisable that you clear cache and dalvik cache.
2. You can directly start from step 12. I guess you data will not be affected.
3. You can unlock bootloader and flash twrp from adb and fastboot.

In that case you will have to flash unlock bootloader using qfil then from adb boot in fastboot then from fastboot flash (temporarily) twrp and then install supersu.

Then method I gave before is easier and straight forward.
