Hello. I have been using the "Carlinkit AI BOX Android 11 3+32GB" for 1 month.

The device seems perfect to me, but I have found several inconveniences that the official technical support has not been able to answer:

1- I install APK MOD and if I give it accessibility permissions, when Carlinkit restarts automatically the permissions are disabled again.

2 - I can't replace or uninstall the default launcher either. I can only choose a new launcher from "BOOT UP APP" but it takes 30 seconds to open.

3 - Native apps cannot be reinstalled by original ones from play store, so no possibility of widgets in NOVA LAUNCHER (when carlinkit restarts, widget is lost and apps go back to original version)

I think that all this would be achieved by being root of the ROM. The bootloader is unlocked but I don't know how to proceed. I don't have the stock image.

I hope you guys can help me.

Greetings.

I rooted my Ottocast. You should be able to root yours. I used a program to extract my boot image from the payload.bin in the firmware. Then I patched that boot.img with magic. After that I booted with the rooted boot.img and then used magic to flash it directly. You should be able to do the same. unfortunately you will need a cable that supplies the power separately from the head unit. this way you can reboot into download mode and disconnect from head unit and connect to computer directly without your box losing power. My Ottocast actually came with what I needed. lol.

PS: the app is called payload dumper.

Please help out an Android beginner.

I'm trying to root my Box (Carlinkit CPC200-TBox), should be similar hardware to your Ottocast and same process.

I've already extracted boot image from payload.bin, and have already patched the boot.img with Magisc. But then when I need to connect the box to my PC, ADB/Fastboot will not recognize it, no devices show up, so I can't continue the process. I'm stuck. My box shows in the Device Manger under "Portable" as an MTP device, with a generic driver.

I beg you, could you do a write up of what you did, step by step? Specially the part where you need to supply power separately from the head-unit. I can't even begin to understand how that could be accomplished...maybe with a USB hub? A power bank?

I hope you can help me an others that might have the same situation.

Cheers.
