Question for unlocking bootloader

I would like to unlock my boot loader. I am currently running c6506 eXistenz 4.2.2. Can i unlock my boot loader while on this rom or do i need to flash back to stock and unlock from there? On eXistenz my phone thinks its a c6503. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

backup the DRM keys before unlocking

back to stock then unlock

and i prefer you don't as 4.4 is coming on the way
