Question On Replacing Icon In .DLL

I'm using PE Explorer to change the Titanium Notification Panel icons and from what I can understand of .dll's, they contain resources for a crap load of programs. So if I change one icon, will it be changed in any other program that calls on that resource(which logically makes sense to me)? Will it possibly cause errors? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Most software will have it's own resources, that's the same for system resources, if was pulled by other software to which generally not then it wouldn't cause issue's it'd just display the new resource.
