Questions about Nexus One

Hey N1 owners, I would like to find out about any common issues you have with your devices. I'm in the market for a 2nd phone to carry around when my G2 is feeling bulky. I also would like a dock to use at my desk.

I've read that the N1's capacitive buttons are not very responsive, but are they really that bad? The multi touch on the N1 also has a bad rap, but since I've never seen an N1 in person I'm not sure what to expect.

I'm happy with my G2 but I have room for another phone, if it's similar enough and not going to give me headaches. Plus getting updates faster would be nice. Thanks!

The capacitive buttons are just fine, the trigger point is a bit high but its not a big deal, just something to get used to.

The issue with the multi-touch is the axis will flip when your fingers cross, its not an issue in day to day apps but it doesn't work very well for games.

I have no issues with my capacitive buttons. I actually just tried out pressing all 4 quickly and each one responded just fine. I have a G2 as well and my Nexus has less glitches. I don't know if you have the force closes with the newer Google Earth or new Maps draining your battery on the G2, but I do and my Nexus doesn't have the issues.

The only thing is when I type pretty fast the keyboard jumps sometimes, but it's not a huge deal.

After having both the Nexus S and the 1 (first) the capacitive buttons are 100% different on the two phones, while I don’t see it as an issue, I find that “scrolling” the buttons works a lot better than just “touching” the buttons (and I actually like the action better), so to say nothing is wrong with them (IMO) would be a lie.

That's not the only problem with multitouch. Also it has trouble with any two touches that are close to each other along either axis. For example multitouch on a keyboard doesn't work on the N1 because all the keys are so close to each other. If you try pressing two keys at once the location of the second press will probably be off and you will get the wrong key pressed.

My G2 has very mediocre battery life, I think the culprit is the new market. I noticed my battery life got really bad after the new market installed itself. I almost never get above 1.75mbps download speed even though I am in an HSPA+ area. Everything else works really great, just looking for a comparable second phone with a slim profile and dock.

Update: I found a mint condition Vibrant pretty cheap. I am loving this thing more than I thought I would. I can get a dock and it is really pocketable. Peace
