Ok, I think I can manage the noobest and hopefully simplest question in this and many other threads, here goes:

I followed the instructions here and ran CASUAL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066
and as far as I can tell it worked fine. The PC console said basically "alright, you're done!"

I went through the 20 pages of that thread and the 4 pages of this thread but can't find an answer because I think nobody's as dumb as I am and has asked this yet:

All I wanted was to root the phone. Did I install the wrong thing? I'm on a screen that says Team Win Recovery Project and I have no idea what that is for, or what to press. I feel dumb. I'm a technical person normally, I work with a tech company, program in multiple languages, and use linux with some regularity but I don't know much about phone firmware and just don't want to press a wrong button and stop a $700 piece of hardware from working :\

What do I do from here please.
First to ease your mind. Android is linux. TWRP or Team Win Recovery Project, is your recovery window. from here you can do root admin commands. Basically like being in your windows bios. just with more power. Setup your rom thats on your sdcard using the install
it's all pretty much self explanatory. I won't bore you with details sense your a fellow dba .

I need Help Please

So I was running on stock 4.1.2 update from verizon and wanted to root the phone. I used Adam's method and it all seemed fine till the end where I got a failure message. The phone shuts down and didn't restart, so I turn the phone back on and it bootloops just showing the the samsung logo and then goes black and repeats over and over. I can get into odin and have tried to go back to stock but odin will not see the phone. Can some one please help me.

AS always stated, you should not try to load roms from Odin. Once you have root, don't use Odin any more. Everything else should be done in recovery. If you are in bootloops and can get into recovery, use it to fix your phone. ONLY if you have problems with recovery should you use Odin to fix your device.

Alright fellas, little bit of a freak out going right now and hopefully it's just user error and not a complete loss.

Traded my GS3 to a guy with for a Vzw Note 2, and proceeded to attempt an unlock, root and recovery install. Tried using the Note2 toolkit, and to no avail because it kept on "failing", so I would reboot and proceed to look for other methods. I found the CASUAL and started in with trying to use that method. So I went ahead and downloaded the latest version(or so I thought I did). Long story short, the process failed at the last moment, and now I can't even boot my phone. All it does is flash the Note 2 screen over and over again every 3 seconds. I can get into ODIN mode but that's it, my phone isn't even recognized by odin on my laptop even though it was earlier during a previous attempt. I NEED HELP QUICKLY!!! You can call my a noob, or whatever the hell you guys call these days(I've had plenty of flashing experience so that's hard to swallow), and that's fine. I'm a United States Army Mortar Infantryman, so I've got thick skin and can take a tongue lashing. But I really, really need and would appreciate some help and step-by-step guidance here fellas. Either reply or hit me up on gtalk now because I really need to get this done before an early, EARLY night/morning live fire :( My gtalk ID is [email protected].

Thanks, and cheers.

Factory reset your phone. then you should see Odin again. That fixed it for me.

That won't be possible. The only thing I can do from this phone at this exact moment is go into odin mode. My laptop does not see the phone if I connect it while it's in odin, and it will not boot. Period.

Can someone just jump on to gtalk and walk me through this step by step? Full restoration to root and unlock please?

It's hard without having the device in front of me. Did you follow the steps on the forum for restoring to stock?

I have read through this thread and the one person that seems to have the same problem that I'm having, never had his problem answered or solved from what I can see. I have no idea how to get this phone back into action of any sorts from the way it sits right now. It will only go into ODIN/DOWNLOADING mode, but my laptop will not recognize it or it doesn't show up in odin period. It will not what so ever boot into anything, so frankly as it sits right now, I'm screwed and have no idea how to get it back.

I wish I could get to recovery but just like the guy who posted after me all I can do is get into odin and neither of my two computers see the phone. Any help the community could give would greatly be appreciated.

Please help!!!

I had a rooted Note 2 but i wanted to go back and unroot it because it kept wanting to do a update. So i unrooted by flashin it in odin and then tried to update the phone. First time i think it went a little with the android and something spinning on his stomach then stopped, and like a dummy I tried it again and it completed and after that i doesn't go past the samsung logo. All it does now is flash samsung galaxy Note 2 quickly around 3 times and then pauses for a sec and does it again. Recovery doesn't work i've taken out the battery and everything. I can get to odin mode but my computer doesn't recognize the phone anymore even after i re-downloaded the drivers. Odin mode shows:

Product name: i605
Custom binary download: NO
Current binary:Samsung official
System status:custom

Sorry i posted this in the wrong section. I just want the phone to go back to stock and i won't ever mess with it again. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Alright so it seems a couple of us have the same problem, stuck in Odin mode and computer won't recognize. Well my phone has been like this for over three weeks now and I still can't seem to find any solutions. I'm to the point where if someone even thought they could fix it I'd send my phone to them. For now I'm stuck using this Samsung Fascinate. :(
