Thankyou to solidsnake81 for pointing this out!!

No need to unlock Bootloader :)

If you revert to .58 or earlier and root, then update via update centre app in your phone the root remains on the phone whilst you are updated to .62 so the result is a rooted .62 firmware :D

why not post in the original thread instead of making a new one? no offence but there are 1000's of rooting. 62 threads emerging these days.

thought it would of made it easier for people to see, rather than they going through loads of pages to find it out. ive tried several methods but this seems to be the only one that works .... my appologies

Is this tested to work? I mean, superuser app can remain on the phone but will not actually work for some instances. Please post some confirmation.

Does this mean your root is actually working after updating to .62 via the Update Center App?

Sorry to sound unconvinced. I just see most posts to have unlocked bootloader to root this new firmware. :(

UPDATE:

Did not work for me. My phone reboots on the 2nd to the last dot indicator and then says could not install the new firmware after it booted up. :(

Thats because you have modify your system. If you root a fresh installed firmware and make no modifications to it, then root will work after update OTA to .62

Sorry to sound unconvinced, but I have flashed .58 firmware before, rooted it, then upgrading it to .62 fw and the root is gone. :(

You must update over the air, not with pc companion or seus or any other method like flashtool;)
Really? :( So that means I'm stuck... When I try to do it "over the air" .. it says "yada yada .62 update available" I click it, then it says "You need a computer in order to update your handset". :( :(

DO this:

  1. Flash a fresh .58 firmware using FlashTool
  2. Root it using DooMlorDs Easy Rooting Kit version 4
  3. Connect to a WiFi or a stable 3G and update via Update Center App on your phone
  4. Done!
