DO this:

  1. Flash a fresh .58 firmware using FlashTool
  2. Root it using DooMlorDs Easy Rooting Kit version 4
  3. Connect to a WiFi or a stable 3G and update via Update Center App on your phone
  4. Done!

Where did you get your .58 FW for the WT19i?
Im planning to do that same steps you have mentioned.
But I would really like to keep the user data apps on my phone.
Have not rooted my phone yet and currently on latest .62 FW.
Would it work on my current setup or do I a really need a fresh install of .58 FW.
Thanks

thought it would of made it easier for people to see, rather than they going through loads of pages to find it out. ive tried several methods but this seems to be the only one that works .... my appologies
agreed.

I never read thread pass the first page. So I don't mind if there is like 10000 threads on the same subject.

+ it's easier to surf threads, than posts.

And the Search functions are never accurate.

did everything as you guys said. Installed .42 using FlashTool, Root it fine. However after updating the FW to .62 over the air (OTA), the phone doesnt want to turn back on anymore.

Any advice?

I had .62 from croatian region

1. downgraded easily with wotanserver.com on .52 (just follow their steps)
2. chosed advanced option and selected .52 than generic US version
After this I did not do anything with mobile (except SIM card was in but that is irrelevant)
3. Downloaded newes full flashtool used it like described in tutorial xda forum.
4. Rooted .52 and afer boot conected to wi-fi (skipped google&SE log in and acceptance as best I could)
5. Checked for new software version and upgraded over wi-fi.
6. After about 5 minutes everything was looking good and superuser was still here
7. Updated binary in superuser app.
8. Downloaded market enabler to try it and got supperuser question and everything worked fine !

My advice to try wotanserver and be shore before you start wotanserver install drivers like described in their FAQ.

.42 or .58 rom......okk, but from where do i get that???

Thankyou to solidsnake81 for pointing this out!!

No need to unlock Bootloader :)

If you revert to .58 or earlier and root, then update via update centre app in your phone the root remains on the phone whilst you are updated to .62 so the result is a rooted .62 firmware :D
.58 or .42 roms ny1??? i am unable to get a ftf file for me to get flashed back to .42...
