I found this over at PPC Geeks, Here , and he found it over on Android Forums Here.

I saw something similar on the the Inc. Wiki page, but this is a little different and has helped me ALOT! I just thought I would share with the rest of XDA- If someone can add this to the wiki page, I don't feel as though I am qualified... THANKS!

Try this.

1. Press HOME, and bring up the dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#* (Do not press "Call").

2. After a second, it should bring up the "Testing" menu.

3. Go into Phone Information, press MENU, and tap "select radio band." You should experience a Force Close, don't panic, this was supposed to happen.

4.Scrolling down shows that the preferred network type is GSM auto (prl).

What this means is that even though you are connected to a CDMA network, your phone is trying to find a GSM network, preventing the radio from sleeping, and causing excessive battery drain.

Remedy this by tapping GSM auto (prl), and changing it to CDMA auto (prl).

Now your done, your TWS should drop dramatically, and you should experience much better battery life!

Credit is given to DroidDave over at Android Forums.

Mine was set to GSM, and so was my friends... I've rooted and installed other kernals on my phone, and his in completely stock. I think it's just a hit or miss as to whether your phone was sent out as CDMA or GSM preferred.

Did you happen to check if your phone was set to CDMA BEFORE you chose "select radio band" and got a force close? Because I'm pretty sure no matter what it's set to, after that force close it's going to default to GSM on the selection screen. I saw this posted back when I had an Eris and it was pretty much discounted at that time

You may be right, I definitely saw a difference in battery life after I did this, but when I log back in it says GSM again... weird... Why do some phones say CDMA and others GSM?

If you hit the "select radio band" it's always going to default to GSM after the force close.
