Quick question new 3d

I just received my new 3d yesterday and plan on rooting it (preferably not htc method.) I've charged it but not yet turned it on.

1. Should I check hboot version before even activating in the hope that I may be lucky and have ver 1.14 hboot?

2. If it is 1.14 will it do an autoupdate as soon as it gets a connection?

3. Is it possible i might have a 1.14 hboot?

I think if it was boxed prior to the update you have a very good chance that it is still the old version of hboot. It won't auto update once you get a connection. It will let you know there is an update but you do not have to do it.
