Hi everyone! If you're not familiarized with the 4chan boards, /r/ means a request.

So, i want to know if anybody knows if there's a way to get the keyboard that we had in Gingerbread 2.3.6

Man, i used to love that keyboard, perfect size, not lag (Yea, i've noticed some lag in the 4.0.4 keyboard), nice color.

I don't want to go back to 2.3.6, but, if it's neccesary to port the app, i'll do it anyway

PS: I found one, it name was 'q-ime.apk' but can't install it. I copied it to system/app, -rw-r-r but, no effect.

The 'q-ime.apk' i found it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709948

Then, i found a 'LatinIME.apk' with it's odex, but FC when i select it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772602

Edit:
Tried the 'LatinIME.apk' deodexed, but, FC too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080165&page=2
I don't think it'll work. If you decompile the apk and look at the manifest, you can see the target sdk which is 7 (2.1) I believe. We're up to 17 now (4.2)
I think there are too many api changes and the apk would have to be recompiled with a newer api to be compatible. Which by then, would probably change it to more like what we have and defeat the purpose.
I will say, that I'm out of my depth here, so don't take my word as gospel, I could be way off. I just know that when apks are built, they usually have a target sdk and a minimum sdk which is what version of android the apk is built for, and the lowest version it will run on.
