Hello, if you post here could you please add whether you're s-off vs. HTC dev unlocked. If you don't care about this thread but are just browsing, can you please post s-off or HTC dev unlocked. Thanks for the help.

I take no credit for developing this!

But ill take a little credit for getting the ball rolling ;)

This is the ra style recovery for the EVO3D made by drellisdee.

Thanks drellisdee!

Ive been in contact with drellisdee for about a month, getting the stuff he needs to make the ra style recovery for us. Such as the gingerbread stock recovery, some adb outputs, adb shell command outputs, dumped the recovery partition, etc. I tested the first build and it didnt work. He was surprised that it didnt work. He said that using a nearly identical setup it works on rezound and vivid, which are very similar to our device.

If it doesnt boot for you, then simply flash your old recovery back. Their will be another build soon enough I'm sure. It'll either be posted here or drellisdee will make a dev thread.

Chad.Goodman is helping with the kernel.

Thanks chad!

For me, I tried to boot to recovery after flashing via fastboot, and it just skipped recovery and booted normally. Another member tried it and it did the same thing. (thanks linsalata28).

If you would like this as a recovery option for the evo 3d and are willing to test it and post your results then here it is.

I got his permission to post this.

Only you, are liable for your device.

edit.... I'm hboot 1.4 s-off

This is good news. I miss amon ra. I like TWRP but I came from the evo 4g and I'm used to ra. I'll definitely keep an eye on this. Thanks!

We're comin from a pure power source.

Yeah, it'll be great when this is running 100%. Boot manager won't work for me if I have twrp so I have to use cwm, but with cwm, my phone won't charge with the power off. So if I let my battery die, I'm screwed. Ra style was rock solid on the og evo. Id almost be willing to trade my 3d for an og just to have this recovery back.

I use this on my og Evo and its just like Amon Ra but with more features. IDK how long ago you had your og Evo but this has been available for it for a while and its great. I really hope he gets it working soon cause I'm also stuck using cwm and I really don't like it.

This is a rarity, as this should probably be in the development section ;)

By the way, hope you get this working, this is a great recovery and more options = win.

I'd like to see it in the development section too, and hopefully we'll see it there, but I don't want to post it there, I'd probably be severely flamed for it since I'm not the dev.
The dev doesn't have an evo3d so he can only go by what we tell him. Right now he knows that it doesn't boot on my phone (1.5 hboot s-on) and one other phone (eng hboot s-off) but it really needs to be tested on a few more devices.

kernel would have been done days ago, but between me being sick (back issues), and family issues -i had zero time

its building now - will PM the OP a link to zimage once done

recovery dont need wifi, bluetooth, wimax, beats, etc - so i made this kernel as lightweight as i can while having it still boot AOSP based roms, while including support for all compression methods and file systems

.......2.5MB :) and still -o3 optimized -- yes overkill for a recovery kernel - but i like to know my code has zero warnings and errors w/ -o3

and compressed zImage using the method requested by the OP

..and yes, the kernel will support QUICK charging while in recovery via USB (though the charging LED may not come on)

DONE

OP - check ur pm :)

for the GPL police - source ->> http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads -- just a modified defconfig file, that can me pulled from the device once installed - To get the configuration: adb pull /proc/config.gz - then gunzip config.gz.
(per XDA mod broncogr, this is an acceptable means of gpl compliance)
