See, that's called circular reasoning. You recommend something because in an earlier post you wrote it is the recommended version. Could you be more specific. "It's good because I say so" is not a very compelling proof.
The suggestion is based on several tests with different basebands. I tested all a lot. After all tests I suggest using the ine mentioned in post #1 . I wrote that there as well.

I verified my tests with some users so it is not only subjective testing.

Just to be clear I read post #1 prior to my initial question and it's implicit that your recommendation is based on some sort of testing otherwise it won't make any sense. Still it's just an empty statement unless you give details about your tests. I'm not arguing here for the sake of it, I'm genuinely interested.

I'm fine with your request, dont worry :)

Last 3.5.xxx versions gave some problems with rather signal or LTE. Sometimes also these versions can result in battery drain or slow LTE data connections.

3.1.194 is actually quite fast in connection. Battery is good with it. It is stable for most situations

I will test all new versions anyway. But as many users just dont want to test but need a reliable version I inserted this "suggested version". Also because many where asking me directly which version I would recommend.

Be invited to test as well. The more are testing the better suggestions we can send out :)

So, I definitely appreciate the recommendation, and the experience/reasoning behind it.
For what it's worth, I couldn't get 3.1.194 to work right with latest AEX 5.3; I kept getting blue LED of death crashes every couple minutes. (QFIL to 3.1.194, install cosmedd's 20180311 TWRP with Treble support from his github, wipe system/data/cache/dalvik/internal storage, install latest AEX 5.3 + official opengapps 8.1 arm64 micro).
Doing the same process but also flashing 3.5.259 baseband zip and it's been stable for 12 hours. So, there's one ROM that needs the Oreo baseband at least (didn't try any other 3.5.x versions with it).

Hey guys,

Thanks for your work !!!

After upgrading to oreo (zui 3.5 then aex 5.3), i had some cell reception issues (signal fluctuation).
I decided to test older basebands and made several tries.
Finally i found one which works well but i'm not sure the version (probably 3.1.194).
How could i check that ???
