My Z3 (D6603) is still in this condition second day already. When the phone is in a call, browsing or in application everything is fine. As soon as I turn the screen off and couple of minutes later it restarts.
Have anyone with this problem has updated the phone with the latest 5.0.2? Could this be a software bug? Any comments are much appresiated.
Meanwhile I'll make a small test: remove the SIM and SD card, restart and let see if the reboots continues. If not then I'll turn on WiFi and wait for reboots. if anyone have other ideas for testing please let me know.

Have any of you guys tried downgrading Android System Webview? It's supposed to have been fixed by Google now but I've not updated yet. I had lots of random reboots before I downgraded.

Thanks for the suggestion but I already swap the device for a new one.
I think the problem was from the updates. Before I return the faulty phone to the shop I did a factory reset and left it on for couple of hours without setting up anything, just wifi and opened the sony page in chrome. There were no more rebooting.
Yesterday evening when I took the new device I startde it only once just to check if its ok and then turned it off. I downloaded PC Companion and did a "Repair phone" update of the firmware.
Today there are no problems so far. If I dont post anything else here then it means that the phone is ok or I went back to my Nokia 6600 :p

have the same issue since lollipop, it happens every now and then. Pure stock, fully encrypted. Too lazy to repair or flash another FTF. im sure its lollipop. O, well just wait for Sony to acknowledge the problem and hope for a fix.

System incidents barely show any useful information >.>

Hello,

May I ask if random restarts are still happening to your new phone, 4i4okotka? Asking as I'm also struggling with that problem, but on Z3 Compact. Thinking if downgrading to 4.4.4 would be any better.

Hi,
No reboots, no Issues. Please try to reformat the phone using the Repair method with Sony PC Companion. Do a full wipe and then check if its ok. Hope that'll help.
Cheers!

Same here. Z3 dual (D6633) with lollipop 5.0.2. Tried hard reset and pc companion recovery.

My Z3 Compact (D5803) running 5.0.2 started acting up yesterday. Installed an update on startup, and has rebooted (soft) every 2 minutes ever since.

Stable only if I turn off mobile data/wifi.

I think that I've just found the solution. I had the same problem for a while, at the beginning I had some reboots once or twice a day, but the other day I had 15-20 reboots in the same day, I did a factory reset but the problem was still there. Using the phone I noticed that I was in TeslaUnread settings when the phone rebooted, I tried againg and it rebooted always when that app was opened. So, I uninstalled it and I had no reboots for days. Today, I reinstalled it and after 5 minutes the phone rebooted. Now I'm pretty sure that the problem was that app. Tell me if you notice the same thing :)

Try to uninstall the apps who are not update for long time( such 4-5 month or more ) and see the result. For me works, after I uninstall one app ( I having 2-3 rebooting by day ) who are updated last time in 2013 my phone not have anymore random rebooting ( passed one month ! ) . I am pretty sure you have installed an application that does not support Lollipop ( is not updated for lollipop ).

Rebooting

I found that, before restarting, phone show message something like "SIM inserted. Rebooting."
I re-inserted (this time more precisely) SIM and after this phone never rebooted again.
So, if you have this problem - check your SIM cards!

I have this problem too with my old xperia L, the problem is not with the sim card of the phone, even I've tried to not to use the sim card but it's still like that too, I've tried everything you said. But after 15.0.a.2.17 update that random reboot problem is gone. I still don't know why xperia phones (some of them) always went like that and i still don't know the cause of it too

So the point of my comment above is.. I don't think by doing that solves the problem, but if you wish, you can try to do that first, and see if your problem is gone.

Edit: but in my case, the phone always rebooted like crazy MOD EDIT by @gregbradley after the last reboot it could reboot again in the next 1-10 minutes. And the problem is frequent, without a stop. That almost make me change that thing to galaxy s3 mini, but luckily, that problem is gone after an update in august. So I've cancelled all those plans of changing the phone

Facing the random restart issue in my xperia z3 compact, is there a way to fix it? I'm not sure whats causing it. I have uninstalled the android webview updates.

Also experiencing random reboots since yesterday evening. Z3 Compact here.

I have a suspicion it could be related with installing icon packs using Action Launcher 3.
I was experimenting yesterday and the day before with icon packs and using a customized grid layout on my homescreen.

I also installed a new icon pack today and after installing (or could have been while installing) the device rebooted!

Also found someone else who thinks Action Launcher 3 reboots their device: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS6/comments/3k8nbi/action_launcher_3_crashes_and_quick_reboots_my/

I'm gonna do some more research right now.
Currently running with the stock launcher (Xperia Home) and so far no reboots.

Btw, I'm not root so I can't check logcat...

Edit: I have uninstalled all icon packs and currently using Action Launcher 3 without any hassle.

Edit 2: reboots were still occurring. Did a factory reset (using Sony PC Companion) and everything works good so far!

Edit 3: random reboots happening again after installing Action Launcher 3 and this icon pack: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.romowtheme.toxic
This icon pack also - again - crashed while installing or opening the icon pack app.

Edit 4: did a factory reset again and now didn't install any apps. Only the default ones.
No reboots so far so at least it isn't a hardware issue, thank god.

I had ~4 reboots a day and tried several roms (stock and aosp) and nothing helped.

Replaced rear glass panel as it was cracked and problem went away.. I believe it was a faulty connection with the nfc but have no proof of this.
