some how the Lupus kernel supports 720p recording for 4.1 and 4.2, not the foggiest idea how, maybe speaking to him you could support it in the 3.0 kernel, they are both different kernel versions so it's probably incompatible, but worth a try right?

Lupus kernel has two versions because not all roms support 720p resolution. Also without that it makes more free RAM available which is why for the most part devs have kept it out. Still trying to make it stable at 720p while at 480p it is fine. If you find that the new Lups kernel works well with this ROM then let us know how it goes

I will test operation with a bt headphone and a headset. Anything not obvious that I should look for? (like "it's weird but bluetooth is somehow linked to the camera")

The camera problem has been fixed, just try the general behavior of BT (for example, audio in call wasn't working with the previous BlueZ bt implementation ported from cm10 to 10.1)

I'm getting random reboots when there is a text message saved as draft, can anyone else confirm this?
Using the kernel provided in the zip.

Just tested your ROM for several hours... during testing I just use my phone as usual and nothing wierd happens (thats good!)

On Xperia Ray
Kernel: FusioN v5.5

+ Smooth... really really smooth compared to CM10!
+ Deep sleep is normal so battery life seems normal too
+ Wifi working fine and still able to reconnect after going outside hotspot's range
+ Camera still buggy but at least you included the legacy camera
+ Compass is working fine, tested using smart tool's compass
+ ALS is working
+ No random reboots so far

- Drawer button sometimes unresponsive, when I press drawer button I can feel the vibration but drawer is not shown
- Reboot to recovery sometimes not working unless I press the home button (kernel problem?)

I think I'm going to use your ROM as my daily rom and since I use GPS alot (using Endomondo) I can test the GPS performance
Your great ROM plus great FusioN v5.5 makes the best xperience for me

After using it more about 24 hours:

Issues: 1. Battery drain is huge -> after 17 minutes (93%).

2. Wifi drops sometimes also it disconnects even though the icon on statusbar is shown.
3. Data (3G/2G) is slower than the usual.
(No random reboots faced yet)
Overall impression: GOOD.

I think all you need to do is to tweak the kernel, nothing is wrong with the ROM yet it self.

same here, the only issue is the huge battery drain..., otherwise a very solid rom

BlueTooth testing

Can you do more testing with the headset to find any possible bugs? (for example, sound during call)

Good:
Media (music) profile works very well. No flaws found. I tested a lot (turning on/off, switching between BT devices, staying at the edge of the transmission range etc).

Bad:
BT headset profile for calls doesn't work at all. There is no sound in either direction.
I switched all the toggles in the DSP manager on/off, no effect.
Logcat (attached) doesn't tell me anything. Search for my comments ( // ) to see when I did what.

Test notes:
- Using two BT devices (Creative wp300 headphone, Samsung HS3000 headset + audio receiver)
- Using three Rays (stock ICS / fxp 145 / mike_20130503, all with the provided kernels)
- BT headset was good on ics. On cm10 the headset mic was very very quiet, you have to talk directly into the microphone.


Unrelated to Bluetooth:
- as reported on the Mini: on first call, the volume was very low. Turning vol down+up fixed it permanently (?)
- WiFi access point: worked flawless when I connected a Mac. Connection dropped often when I connected the ICS Ray.
- Couldn't set up AP via BT. OSX doesn't have options for that (?)

My review:

First of all a great development, mikeioannina.
Who would have thought that building from sources could solve many of those problems.

Rom's been up for 24 hours now, and I must say, its comparatively very stable.
Phone boots properly, faster in fact, roughly 10sec.

Although I got 3 abrupt reboots, and there seems to be a slight glitch while the lockscreen comes up. The screen remains blank,unless you turnoff the screen and turn it on again.

Bluetooth works properly while sending and receiving files.
Wifi, works fine too.

Display brightness transition (turning bright or dim), is very smooth. and also responds well to ambient light while on auto brightness. Auto brightness is the bestamongst all other roms I've tried.

best part is - Daydreams are usable now!!

Gps works fine as well, although I'm not sure about the compass in the latest maps. (I'm inside the house right now, maybe thats why..) But I'll report back later..

Battery drops are evident.. I collected the information on partial wakelocks overnight while the screen was off. I've attached some screenshots below. If anyone could point in the direction on how to disable or make them occasional, that would be great.

Also, as you pointed out, the JB camera is still buggy, its true.
Despite all the functions of JB camera are fully working, I dont get a preview of what I'm shooting. Burst, HDR, etc are functional. I've attached a screenshot of that as well..

In conclusion,
This is a pretty good rom for daily use,functionally, if battery drops and minor reboots arent a problem, but I dont see that users wud have to wait for long, before these problems are solved, and this rom becomes a true JB for 2011 devices.

Every now and then, the screen doesn't turn on after it's locked for around 15 minutes (I'll try and time how long I lock the phone before trying to unlock which causes a reboot), and then it reboots, I used to have the problem (on the irii-soft ROM) where If I lock the phone while its on the messaging app, and receive a message, the phone would reboot, I have not realized whether or not it happens in this ROM, I have it set and ready to test, and will report back if it has the same problem.

Not sure if the camera app is set to fully work yet, but if I flash the Lovins fix, then the video record feature doesn't let me record a video (with the 720p option), the record button doesn't do anything, just the outer ring goes red but that's it.

thought so.


After receiving a few texts, while the phone was locked, no reboots occurred, this mainly happened (on the irii-soft ROM) when I restored my text messages which was quite a lot, but with no restoration of texts, this does not occur on this ROM, good stuff!.

One other thing, I was playing around with the developer settings for changing the speed of animations, it worked for all of them, except the screen off animation, not sure if it is supposed to or not though.

Verify bugs

Does anyone (everyone?) have these two bugs:

1. Cosmetic: on the lock screen, there is a small broken frame ] [ that fades out after half a second or so (depends on the background)

2. Battery waster: when you view the sleeping Ray through a digicam, do you see a blinking red light in the upper red corner?
(infrared strobe from the proximity sensor - that thing should only be on during phone calls, but on mine it flashes non-stop)

reboot to recovery again buggy..and ram is so low i get only 100 max..was getting 207 is cm10 nightly..all in all, love the 4.2.2 thanks man..
P.S Used fluid engine 3.1 script and hell the phone is smoother! Better ram too 180 now!

New test kernel is coming in a few minutes:

-Partial bootlogo fix
-Changes in ondemand & interactive governors (possible fix for stuck max frequency & battery drain)
-Disabled wifi undervolt (possible fix of drops & random reboots when using wifi)

You will find the boot.img for each phone in my goo.im test folder (check first post)
